g,day Duc, sorry I missed you coming aboard, :-[, you must of slipped under the radar ::),,

the large red wire  slips into the harness and heads for the ignition switch, but also splits off to feed the regulator rectifier,,

there is no problem at all with running a fuse holder in the main line,,

any other questions, just holler

Thanks Jonesy. It seems when I acquired the bike, the previously owner omitted the main fuse holder.

Can a generic 30A fuse holder be used from the battery to the fuse box? Or does it require a xs11 specific model?

Also, I see on the wiring diagram that my neutral wire (baby blue) goes from the pick up coils to the neutral bulb on the dash. With mine, I cant seem to locate where or what the switch looks like. Any ideas?

Hey Duc
All your assumptions/arrows in the first pic are correct, looks like your solenoid is hanging upside down but you are correct
2nd pic auxillary fuse and the neg & pos terminals are for whatever 12 volt device you want to run. I've got 12V cig lighter socket on mine to run navman or 12v car type phone charger The cloth covered red wire on mine goes to a pin plug with red cloth then dissapears into the harness and I thenk ends up at the keyed main s/w at the handlebars,
An electrical guru willbe along soon to dispute or confirm the last bit
This pic might help you with the layout

EDIT
sorry the fuse holder lid is on in my pic but like yours the 4 fuses from left to right service Main/Headlight/Signal/Ignition

Hi guys,

I am starting on the wiring of my 80 xs11 and I would like to see if my wiring so far is correct. I am using a 80 xs1100g wiring diagram as reference but I would like verification from those on this board so ensure that when I fire it up for the first time, I dont blow/destroy any electronic components.

Also, according to the wiring diagram the battery's (+) terminal should be wired to a red wire that goes to a "Main Fuse holder" which I dont seem to have. Should the red cottoned wire on the 2nd pic go to this 'main fuse'? and connect to the battery?

If someone post a pick of what it looks like, that would be much appreciated. Or can I just mock up a DIY fuse holder with a 30A fuse inside?

Thanks,

Duc
