Carbs wont matter, pretty much the same I think.

Is that a fact? I thought for sure only 78-79 carbs work on 78-79 model bikes and so forth with 80-81.

righto whats the go here, number plate screws on the front guard make it a 5n5? I thought they all had the screws in the front guard?

Make it a 5n5 over a 5k7. The number plate screws were for the Aussie market as it was a regulation.
Your standards wouldve had em too.

Forks are RH (5n5 on the frame number ) - same bike was a 5K7 in Europe. The number plate screws on the front guard make it 100% 5n5.

Hi,

Yes the bike is a mix bag. I'm told the front forks is a sports/5kh? type. It had round head lights but square gauges/tacho. Bike was previously registered with a side car, so there is a few mods on the frame to accommodate and strengthen it. One thing I'm concerned about is the carby, from indications on how to identify them it looks to be a 78-79 type whilst the bike is a 80.  Btw engine is a 3X100.... Frame is a S1....

Hey Duc. Welcome aboard matey!

Bike looks a bit mixed. Later front end (RH?) with the offset axle. Looks like an RH front guard.

Let us know the first 3 characters of the frame and engine numbers.

I'm at Marleston, however there are a few guys on your side of town that will probably be in touch after xmas etc.

Mine has the engine out for a re-build and is in Mal Pitmans care at the moment.  I will strip the rest and repaint the frame and sort out some other mods.

You can see my pics in this section if you are interested.

Pooraka.

It looks like a lot of it isn't as bad as the pics. Tanks, seat, rear fender, carbs and brake system have been disassembled and stored in box till I get it started.

At the moment, sorting out the wiring - which is a mess.

Nice. I need some advice/direction as to how to put this bike back on the road. I spoke to Christian from here and he was helpful. Have diagrams and manuals but looking at another bike would be nice.

Hi Duc

welcome aboard and Seasons greetings.  When you say you are from SA is that South Australia or South Africa??

Either way I look forward to seeing some pics when you have them ready.  I am currently re-building a 1978 Maroon XS11 and hope to have it back on the road in the new year.

Hey guys,

How you all going?  My name is Duc, from SA. I have recently acquired myself a xs1100. Currently, the bike isn't running - how I got it. Although I am planning to get it going eventually. This is one of two bike projects I'm workin on - so time is a constraint for now. Hope to share, learn and enjoy the xs11 with the rest of you guys. I'll post pics later.

Duc
