Hi all, was great catching up, had a great time, a huge thanks to Mr & Mrs Steptoe, & Errol, a fantastic event.
I left Scarfy & Lou in Forbes ( they wanted a coffee stop), I kept going. Between Wagga Wagga & Wodonga, hit a furry critter, fortunately a small one, just kept going. Was then dive bombed by an Owl, scared the crap out of me, I ducked, but kept going. Arrived Wodonga around 8:00 pm.
Checked out bike, had hit an encidna, there were sharp spikes in front & rear wheels from it. Fortunately tyre was still up next morning.
Cruised down to Healsvillee, due to much straight rd, had a ball going through a deserted Black Spur. Eventually got home, as odometer doesn't work, not sure how far, used 2 litres of oil, which is ok.
Again thanks for all the behind the scenes hard work, it was certainly worth it

In Orange now and will press on home soon.Thankyou for a great time;i second all that has been said. You blokes(and Sheilas,Shell, and Jenny)are great company.Jonesy,The "Bretts Award" is an inspired idea.Incidentally, when we pulled over at Auscott,"Captain Chaos" discovered that his gear rack had once again moved dangerously southward. The Captain went to work with his oversized paws and entered a new world of trouble when he broke the rack bolt. Not happy with that the big fella moved swiftly to the opposing side bolt and gently screwed it in two.But all will be good as i gave Captain Chaos a life plan in Narromine before we parted company. Jonesy, there could also be an award for the best Rat bike.Bretts and Howlong Pete(where were you Pete?!!) are strong contenders to take out top spot, but i am getting there, albeit slowly.Thanx blokes(and Shell x)

Nice one, Jonesey! A top weekend indeed. Just a quick note before dashing of to work to allay any fears about my "incident" near Warwick. I'm ok, bike's fine, but I have to fab a new stick to mount my lights on the trailer. I don't know how that roo managed to get a part of it between the mudguard and the bumper without removing any of the bodywork, but all I know is that I saw it coming and swerved away, the bike gave a big jolt, and I heard a scraping noise coming from the back. I expected to see the whole trailer body gone when I dug out my torch to view the carnage. A couple of minutes work with the gaffa tape saw it together enough to get to town to fix the broken wiring.

These first few pics show that I did wash the rig prior to heading to the rally.

After....

My gaffa tape repair........

This was how it was sitting when I first inspected the hit.

The whole timber section from below the tailight is missing. Dunno how the roo fared, but that had to hurt!
More tomorrow. 'Night guys!

Spike and I arrived at our respective homes around 4.30 with no dramas
a return trip of 1415kms including the some times high speed run out to Bengonia? That's your fault scotty making me exceed the outback limit by about 70. and only used about 200mls of oil.
9hrs to Bourke and 7.5 back. hmm how does that work?
Our mate Brett has inspired a new trophy category...... other big gigs have there logies, there baftas Oscars and wamies.

Brett's positive atitude to adversity was an object lesson. And he had his fair share over the weekend.

Here Here, to the comments coming through, personal thanks to Geoff,  Michelle and  Errol for all their work in the background, it was bought up over the weekend that a few of us have run Rallies in the past, so that back ground work is VERY MUCH appreciated and doesn't go unnoticed;D.

Thanks to all there for the great company, laughs and conversation a fabulous weekend indeed.

BTW the bike never missed a beat and has been given the wash she duly deserves :D

Cheers

Lou

Going to spend another night here to wind down and relax before doing the run home,,

A huge thanks to the guys that made the w/end happen, it certainly was worth the effort,,

A special mention has to go to Brett,, for all that went not right, he just kept pushing on ,, it  was  a great example of the spirit needed  to keep these old girls running

Now that I've woken up.  A HUGE thankyou to Steptoe, Mrs Steptoe and Erroll for the behind the scenes hard work, Jonesy for another year of trophies and of course members who contributed to make this weekend a resounding success.  Without your hard work and dedication it wouldn't have happened.  A huge congrats to Xtian for getting arguably one of the best examples of a restored XS 1100 on the planet finally to the rally.

Now washing my bike and changing the oil, newly enthused for next years get together.

Stay upright.

Got home last night at 2130.  I forgot what it was like to ride for 10 hours. Bike ran flawlessly.  I'm a happy camper.

It was great to catch up in the flesh again and to put faces to forum members names.   You couldn't get a better bunch of blokes together who shared a common passion with an aging Barque.

See you all again next year.
