I am all for Bourke again as the venue for the rally i will leave the sidecar at home for the next rally and bring a solo bike. One thing to remember there is more than one way to get there from Victoria so that the trip does not get boring

We went through all this last year.
some pulled out, among other reasons because a decision couldnt be made.
so to stop any indecision and give the long distance travellers plenty of time to make arrangements.
Lets just make Bourke the destination (after all it did fill the criteria put up last time)and May the date If this thing grows legs, eventually, maybe people will get to know that Bourke and the XS rally go hand in hand. If we outgrow the caravan park, come up with something else then.
thats just my thoughts anyway.

May dates OK with me, hopefully get SA members together and ride over. W.W area sounds inviting been a few years since riding thru could we get some more info infact if a location is suggested maybe standard of park, facilities  rides etc in  and around location. especially a location with laid back cops  Coops

I liked the layout of the camp at Bourke and the fact it was nt an upmarket caravan park and what it had to offer regarding the outback feel.......... the campfire and accomodation............which provided us with the room  to gather around in our group and not to inconvenience other travellers .
Even the cops seemed laid back.

Walcha........has one caravan park .........great countryside/roads........a stretch for any SA attendees though.
Cobar...one caravan park........interesting mining history.

A central location seems the deciding factor............... depending on ..... hands up ........on who will definately attend.

Walcha - Wauchope area looks nice and inviting. Maybe even out to Tamworth? That'd be a nice ride down from the North or up from the South with options of nice smooth motorways or a few curvy bits (or a lot of 'em. Your choice.) then a turn westwards with only a relatively short run out into the boondocks. The S.A. guys could make a trip of it and sweep down through / near Melbourne to pick up the Viccies and run up with them?
The main thing is that we have a definite date for everyone to set their goal at. Perhaps Bryan can give some more info on the W/W area as he'd been through there recentlyish?

I enjoyed the bejeezus out of Bourke, putting faces to names and enjoyed the company of people who share a common interest. I learned heaps about my bike.  I have already put aside the same couple of days to do it again.

Hope to see you all agian next year and hope to meet with those who will make the trip next year.

My hand is well and truly up.

Bourke was great.........i would nt have a problem if it was the same venue.
While each individuals wish list may be something different..(corners etc).......the thing i feel that got Bourke to the finish line was mostly the fact that it centrally positioned itself regarding.......

Time.............." most" people have to allow for travel and off work
Distance......... which equated to a reasonable time / ride on our steeds
.................for the majority of attendees.

It all comes down to individuals and if it becomes a feasible reality for them to get to the rally.....due to those 2 main factors.
While Bathurst is a great suggestion...it sort of makes it a little harder to attract any South Aust attendees.
Broken Hill pushes things closer for them....as well as Cobar.........i understand that increases a little more distance for some.......
A central location seems the deciding factor............... depending on ..... hands up ........on who will definately attend.

A potential meet up ride/venue/excuse? for the Sydney/Central NSW mob
http://xs1100.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=1298.0
Yes for corners
I did like the accomodation and communal kitchen set up of the Bourke rally. to get that style of thing in a place with corners would be good. Walcha-Wauchope NSW? maybe

Like Geoff says corners would be good, especially now that my bike will have all the bent bits gone :-) :-), thanks to Mal.
I think after a chat with Steptoe, the idea of a north and south setup committee is a good idea to fix it for distance.
Us blokes in the middle can be flexible either way.

I also thought maybe a few small meetups during the year may be on the cards????

Maybe get it put in one of the bike mags in the club section to get some interest.

you beat me to it {the thread that is}, going on the weather in the central area of all members and the end of the wet season for the Queenslanders { all roads should be re-opened if there's a wet season}

so if we leave the date set as the first w/end in may,,,,, fri 3rd, sat 4th, sun 5th, and put the effort into finding a destination suitable to the majority of attending members, the fella,s from Adelaide and Townsville will obviously have the furthest to travel no matter the chosen spot

I,ll start the destination list,, some where there are corners
