I had a safe trip home - with Tim on Monday, I stopped at Boggabilla while he carried on home.
I havent had much time to translate the 98GB of stills and movie that I recorded on the trip - here is a few

I had a great trip down with Tom and Hen, a great time at Bourke - It's not the booze talking, but I love you blokes... ;D

Guzzi update.
The overnight battery charge got him to Nyngan
Where he set about purchasing a replacement battery from the NRMA bloke, but found and fixed a broken wire in the charging system and elected for a jump start and continue with the old battery.
Another stop up the road for fuel found the charging system wasn't completely fixed and required a push start down the streets of Narromine. Another stop in Wellington (on a hill) disclosed a loose earth connection on the frame, further down the road things got worse where it was found for some reason it would cough and splutter at below 3000 rpm which is ok except for when following an old lady in bowling attire through roadworks, and negating the back streets of Bathurst in the dark with no lights at well above 60kph to keep the farting engine ticking over. out the other side of Bathurst he had another 20 country Kms to do with no lights and then the thing completely died in his driveway on arrival

Hmm a BRETTS contender?

I believe a new "BP" connector free wiring harness is on the shopping list.

Guzzi problem was diagnosed as alternator not charging. We had the bike on a charger overnight to give it a healthy start to his trip home (to Bathurst) in daylight (no lights req'd) so the battery's charge should have seen him home comfortably.

Hi Jarrad

The old girl was great, didn't miss a beat, I was very happy, just like the old days.  It's very hard to beat these bikes for long distance touring, even loaded up they seem to have heaps of grunt and want to cruise at even higher speeds, I just wish there weren't any speed limits like the NT way back when.

Xtian has now provided a link to the photos, so just click on it in my previous box.  Thanks Xtian

Cheers

Hi Paul. Welcome back mate - how did the old girl and her shiny new engine go on the trip?

Can you send me the login details for the photobucket account please?

Cheers, Jarrad

Were to start? George and Little Scotty you are true gentleman, the advice I got from you both was just enough and no more. I would ride with you any day. Both very different people but I am equally impressed with ya both.
Although what was lost sucked big bananas I Started a new job today and I am sure I (and others) will be stocked up with what was lost in no time.
I am honoured by the award suggestion Jonesy, As George said when I had held us up for the third, (or was it forth time) this time due to lack of fuel. That is half the fun. They say adversity builds character although sometimes I think my character has been built enough, the ride to Mount Oxley with little Scotty was defiantly worth the $10 visit to the local welding shop to get the exhaust welded together yet again. Pity you pretty bikes have to miss out on the fun. Talk about shed envy Holland Welding had a very impressive setup for back o' Bourke. Brian should have some pic's. The exhaust held up very well for the 450 km trip home.
Yes the rack did collapse again, about 30km out of Narromine. This time when I tightened the bolts they snapped. It was Little Scotty's idea to pinch a bolt or two from some were on the bike. With the rear indicators missing I decided that the front indicators would be salvaged for their bolts. After this we made it home well.
After the weekend I think I am now convinced on the direction I would like to go with Dusty, a bigger tank and more than an inch of seat padding will be great and the XJR exhaust looks just the ticket.
Mr and Mrs Steptoe you guys put in an amazing amount of work and organisation to the weekend. Amazing people it was much appreciated  ;D

Hi all what a great time I had first trip on the bike for 7 years. ;D. got home Monday just after midday.
If it wasn't for all the inspiration that this Forum gave me the bike would still be in bits.
A big thanks from Tom and myself to Mr and MRS Steptoe and Errol, and everone who was there and contributed to make it a great Rally. 8)

Hi All

Coops & I made it home to Adelaide safely, I think worst part was fighting the traffic here after a couple of long days in the saddle.  Thanks to all for a great weekend, Geoff & Michelle you are both champions and I hope everyone appreciated all your hard work.

It's hard to beat an XS11 for eating big distances effortlessly eh?

Good meeting everyone and I'll see you next year all being well.

Cheers
Paul
