I just got 5 from precision shims and did not specify the diameter, so got 25mm ones and then got them replaced with the 29mm ones.  All good in the end. I assumed they were in .05mm increments, however the 2.35 came back as a 2.36. The others were 260,265,280 and 295 so not sure how that works but close enough for me.

Hey Jeff,
I ordered three shims of these guys, I can't remember exactly the cost but it did work out the most economical for buying a few.
I have just ordered another two shims so I will let you know the exact price when my quote comes back.

LOL I was just about to post this message when the phone rang, it was precision shims about my order. the cost is $9.90 per shim as I think I said and $11 postage. I did remember the postage being a little high but I think it still works out to be the best deal. It seems the $11 postage is a flat minimum fee so the more shims you get the better the deal.

Picking them up would be the go.

Dale.....what are the approximate costs per shim/shipping etc?
I just went to their website and it seems you have to order for a quotation on costs ........as none are listed.

       The shims are interchangeable with Kawasaki Z1 900s ,1000s 1300s,the Kawasaki's are set up in the lower range.Precision Shims are good to deal with and they are not far from me if anyone needs some picked up and posted

Brett,

depending on how well you get on with your local dealer, the usual "Swap" includes somewhere around $5 - $6 per shim.

Thanks Peter,
I will start with the local yamaha shop that said they would be happy to swap. If I run into trouble I will list up some sizes that I need and what i have to offer.
That $100 kit looked tempting LOL

hey bretts,
the correct diameter is 29mm,
some bikes also use 29.5mm,
these obviously wont fit but can be hard to tell apart,
i spent a whole day running around wreckers that said they had
the correct size, even asked them to recheck the size with callipers and they
still couldnt get it rite, there should be a cpl of members on here
with some spare ones hopefully with the correct thickness that ur after.

I just got of the phone to Chris at Presicion Shims Australia. He is not sure of the diamiter but thinks they are 25mm the other possibility is 29mm
He has them for $9.90 each so that is the best deal so far. Great!

Thanks Scarfly,
I just gave them a call and the lady on the phone also said she needs a diameter for the shims. The boss is out and he knows more than what is on the list so just the elusive diameter size :)

Thought I would also list down the info I got so far.

Part number 1J7-12169-A1 is a 250 shim
Then changing the last two digits
255=E1
260=F1
265=G1

I found a link on the forum to buy from here
http://www.siriusconinc.com/
After a search of that site I only found this
http://www.siriusconinc.com/pro-detail.php?pid=&product_id=800
Then with a google search of the part number I found the average price about $20 each shim. So before taking postage into account the kit seems like a pretty good deal.
If I have no luck swapping out at the local Yamaha store I might go with the kit. I think it will have $20 added for postage but still unsure.

This mob Supplied the shims for my CBX.  I found the bloke most helpful. I'm not at home so I can't tell you the size.

I am chasing up some valve shims today. After I got a part number from the Yamaha head office I called the local Yamaha dealer and it seems they may have some to swap out but I need to know what Diameter the valve shims are.
Thanks
