Finally got the hoses fitted last weekend, and the bike starts. Had to adjust the throttle cable to get it idling right because it was a little high. Had a mechanic out to do a general service and took it off for a blue slip.

Bugger

Front brakes are shot and need replacing. My mechanic has a set off an R1 he reckons will do the trick, but he can't fit them until after Christmas. Oh well, so much for holiday touring.

I also need to replace the rear tyre, though that wasn't unexpected.

Good thing I still have two working Ninjas

I've ordered replacement hoses and replacement clamps for both fuel lines and both vacuum lines.

Due to over excitement in finding new petcocks at a reasonable price I inadvertently ordered 2 right hand ones, so the left petcock is mounted backwards, which means that the tap and hose sits on the cover of the air filter. The soft rubber breaks quickly there.

Once I get the replacement hoses fitted, and asuuming I still have an idle of 6000+ RPM I need to find out if it's an air leak (Choke position doesn't change it) or something else. I also can't seem to fine the idle adjustment screw, so I'll be spending some time with a torch tonight trying to find where it has fallen to.

Then I have to go and get it re-registered, as I had to turn in the plates.

Then I'll invite Eddy around again with his carby tuning kit...

good to hear tykwy, so whats your next step?
I got some of that hose too, more flexible and easier to kink but so far its doing the job of getting petrol from tank to carby.

After far too long, I've finally managed to get my bike to turnover and start. It belches smoke like the Hogwarts Express, and is idling at 6000RPM, but it starts. Happy days.

Somehow I've misplaced one of the vacuum hoses and I'm none to happy about the softer than the old one fuel hose I got from Super Crappy cheap. But I'm finally feeling progress.
