How about a valve seat cutter, Strictly backyard style
Might save me a ship load of aggressive valve lapping

I still have some more leak tests, valve lapping and blue dye checks to do before I work out what I need.
 But being the little shed dweller that I are I'll still try straightening too. just for the challenge.
For insurance I might just take you up on your offer when the final count is done.

Steptoe......mate I thought you'd be the one to come up with something, 
A block of 4 X 2 hardwood and a Nylon hammer springs to mind for me. I bought a new more accurate run out do hickey today......gotta be a bit high tech, although the pool cue technique did cross my mind

I;m with Dale mate,,   BUT   for the sake of the exercise 

very simply,, big heavy lump of flat steel as or instead of an anvil, a small or large smack stick,{bigger is always better }, and a piece of glass

lightly tap said valve at offending high point against other bit and check by rolling on the glass till straight, or in your drill with run out do-hickey

    Jonesy what is the valve that you need i will post one up to you for free .there are times to be a tight arse and there are times to take the next step.The potential damage that may occur by far outways the small monetary gain by rooting around with a bent valve as you all know these bikes are not made anymore let us save what is left of them

The challenge. Make a bent valve straightener.

some rules for the game.

 No lathes allowed (sorry Ev)
 Basic hand tools
 Basic power tools, (welder grinder drill Chainsaw )
 Material generally laying around most sheds, timber off cuts, metal off cuts etc
 modifcation of an existing tool?

Precision of the final straight valve ........good enough to be fitted back to the motor

go forth to your sheds and conjure up something so simple others will kick themselves for not thinking of it.

Yes I have some bent valves and yes it's for the tight ass 581 rebuild
