Hi Fred, I contacted pipemasters and he don't do the pipes for the XS anymore as he got rid of the Tooling as he hadn't used them in years  :'(  The only thing he can do is if I take the bike into him to make some up...... or if someone down in Brissy takes one in to him. Can't even get a price of him at the moment  :(

If that's your daughter's picture on the shed wall, I'll be up on the weekend to say G'Day.  :P

Those bars look like a great option Fred. It would be nice on a long run to adjust them a little and give your back a slightly different spot to lock up into once in a while.

Thanks guys,

if you look at the next pics you can see that the "flat bars" actually have a U bend under them to act as risers. This also means that you can pivot them forward or back to allow for your arm reach.
I'm 6'4" with a long reach and with the floor boards (next pic) can actually achieve an upright position for when I'm touring. You'll also see the fixtures for my tall screen when I need it - slide in, slide out, 30 seconds no tools needed.

The XS1100 sticker is from Christian.

Foot Boards are great for touring

Hi Fred, welcome aboard. Nice looking bike. How do you find the flat bars. I had some on my special for a while but I'm 6.1 and riding ilke a half shut pocket knife just didnt do it for me. Havent tried a standard but they look like they'd be comfortable enough. Where did you get the decal on the back guard ?, I'd be happy to have one on my bike if theyre available somewhere

The Pipes are from Pipemasters (www.pipemasters.net), (Ph 07 3252 3939).

They are 4 - 2 - 1 and you can still use your centre stand, something you lose with most aftermarket 4 - 1 systems. ;D

I bought these in '96 in stainless for $625. :P The baffle is replaceable and no extra carb work is needed for them. ;D I've run them with the standard air box and with Pods and have been more than happy with them. And yes they look good 8)

I'm one of the very lucky lads who has a decent set of original pipes, but when I saw yours I thought I'd ask because they look much better than most other aftermarket sets I've seen.

They expensive?

Thanks Bro,

most welcome next time through. Give some notice though so that I can put the time in for a few cold ones.

The pipes come from "Pipemasters" in Brisbane.
They just need a call and make them up in chrome or stainless. Make sure you let them know if yours has the factory oil cooler or not and they send them by courier in about a week.
If you want a contact I'll dig it up for you. They sound awesome.

That's a very tasty looking machine Fred. You really look after it.

My mother-in-law (who I actually like  :o ) lives in Wangaratta. I can see a nice detour next time I head up there to have a look at the bike in the flesh.

What pipes are those?

Been a member here since October last year ;D

Names Fred and although I've owned 23 bikes in my time I've had my '78 XS1100E for most of the time as well. It was always a good fallback when the Trumpies and Shovelheads broke down.
324,500 klm on her now and due her third strip down and pretty up next winter. These things go for ever don't they. 8)
I think I've worked out how to post some pics now. :o Thanks Bryan and all the rest.
It's only ever been to a workshop once and that was for a tune up when I was overseas and needed it for a club run the day I was back. You guessed it "they stuffed it good and proper". Started it up without the camchain tensioner on and the chain jumped off the sprocket and you can guess the rest.
Anyway, I'm in RUFFY, Victoria and have always got a cold home brew for anyone passing though.

Holy Shit! It worked :o
