u can use ur stock carbies and bump your
main jets up by 2, and still use pods with
good results, i cant remember what bike u have
but the later carbs are better for running pods as these
carbs dont have the vent t's, they vent at the rear carb bell,
this is an ideal set up for pod filters,
the earlier carbs can still run well with pods but u tend to lose
a little down low.

if u want run the dynjet, the kits comes with all the jets,
u can use either the 124 or 128 main jets, the 138 main iw\
way to big.
let me know if theres anything else u want to know.

i ran the dynjet kit in mine for a while before i switched
them over to the keihins.

Part of the Cafe Racer conversion.  I bought a stage 1/3 kit so I have the option. The advice I received is that if I put pod filters on I would have to modify the jets etc.

From the Dynojet site............

STAGE ONE

Intended for motorcycles with a stock engine using the stock airbox, air filter and stock pipe. Stage 1 kits are fully adjustable to allow the use of a well designed aftermarket pipes and stock replacement air filters like K&N. Stage 1 kits are designed to improve throttle response and driveability and in most cases power increases of approximately 5% throughout the entire power range can be achieved.
STAGE THREE

Intended for motorcycles with stock or mildly tuned engines using a well designed aftermarket pipe and individual air filters. In most cases power increases of 10-15% can be achieved. However driveability may be compromised particularly with short stroke, high rpm motors. On some modern engine and airbox designs, individual filters and proper jetting offer no performance improvement yet compromise driveability, in such cases stage 3 kits are not available.

Aiming for something like this [which sold on ebay this week for $6100.00]

Scarfey

hi scarfy,
i have, want do u want to know?
the stage 3 is to big for our bikes,
stage 1 or 2 is more suitable, the only difference is the
size of the main jets.

Steptoe is correct, measure the slide diameter. if you have early carbs the needle should be retained by a circlip in the slide. I did buy a set of slides with diaphrams from "show and go" in Adelaide which were listed for an '81 but the slides were wrong. seems the std models used the same carbs through the whole range ?  but the RH where the needle is retained by a plate with two screws must be different slides.
I did manage to find the diaphrams only on ebay but have not located the seller as yet, will let you know if I can find them but it is definitely the way to go but when you remove the old diaphrams don't cut the crimp on the slide as I have seen advised just pull them out gently, use some lighter fluid as lubricant and press the new ones in with the same and a piece of  plastic cut from an ice cream or oil container.
                             clutch.

I think these are the ones that I bought, the instructions are the same but use the plastic in place of the screwdriver to fit the new ones.

A lot of the freight costs are generated by the formulas ebay  use. Just ask for a shipping price directly and be pleasantly suprised as they differ greatly

Hey John
cant answer your carby Q at the mo as I'm working away and dont have acess to the good books or a spare set that I could measure for you.
But as far as the oil pump wear goes I would think at 83K very unlikely to be a problem

Hi there.
I know some one will be able to guide me, wondering what Mikuni carbies i have because want to overhaul and  fit new diaphragms or complete slides ( diaphragms sound cheaper) have measured where carbies mount to manifold  id  of carby 34.57 mm. Measured OD of groove for diaphragm 74mm ? have seen listing for diaphragm as 73mm is this the same?
Also need new primary chain  at a reasonable price found one in US approx $145 but want $100 in freight.
Also while I am here do the oil pumps wear excessively eng done 83,000 approx measures up with slight wear. :)
