thanks everyready for the info, any thoughts of spending money on another bike are out of the question now unfortuneately due to a couple of thou needed to fix a new shower and floor in a house ive got, bugger, lucky all i need for my rd resto is some gear box oil.i really liked that bike and its just over 45minutes away, bugga

Hi Ken. It would be an ideal base bike for your restoration skills. As Phil XS1.1 would attest, it is a major advantage to start with a good running bike and go from there, as opposed to having to contend with an engine rebuild first, then go from there. Steptoe's tuned this motor and his comments are online here somewhere, and I've seen the bike which is quite good in the flesh and would only require cosmetic adjustments to bring it back to stock. Oh, by the way, the headlight and mounts are much easier to source than the "rare as hens teeth" units fitted to the RH's.
