As Fred would would say, I've got too much time on my hands ;)
And I've had a bit of a play with google Earth to find a central location using Bundy as the new  capitol of QLD.

So, The approximate 1/2 distance as the crow flies between Adelaide and Bundy is 850 kays. this is also 845 km in a straight line from Melbourne.

Zoom in on the 850km marker and 26k's away is a little ol town called bourke.

Now, according to "get directions" in google earth, Bourke is pretty close to halfway by road for the 2 most far flung places as well (Adelaide and Bundy)
Below are some distances by road to Bourke
Bundy 1172
Adelaide 1133
Melbourne 1005
Sydney 750
Canberra 735
Wagga 703

For some of the hardened distance riders.......a days ride
or for those with a more casual approach....2 easy days

So are there any Ayes for Bourke?

Dont wanna be a party pooper, but, I'm in the lets meet halfway camp.
Probably more do-able for the South Aussie and Victorian members....just putting it out there early before things are set in concrete.

now that we have one planned, it might kick the ball along for every one else,, maybe using this date, a national get together, but in different rooms so to speak,, but for those that like a good long run,, with plenty of notice, come on up

Just to quote Christian from his post in the member finder map thread:
Quote
maybe we need a few meets in different places and one day a big one. We should probably start off simple but keep the thought thought there.
I'd have to agree with his thoughts on this matter. Given the scale of things in Australia, the plan of holding a proper national rally in a place that suited nearly everyone would be nigh on impossible.
Just to put things in perspective, the guys on the UK site have difficulty finding suitable venues that are central to everyone as it's too far for some to get there.

As you can plainly see, in comparison, the travelling times alone would make it very difficult for us to all get together at once, unless planned at least 12 months in advance so people could organise annual leave etc. to be able to make the trip.
Geoff and I are just trying to get the ball rolling on the less ambitious idea of getting us people together that can. If another rally was to be held somewhere near the NSW / VIC border, that would be much more doable for the members down south.
One day, we may end up with a truly national rally, but I'd say this would be the best way to go about it for the time being.
Your thoughts??

steptoe has come over for the trip down to concourse,, with impending rain for an hr or so discussions on a get together seemed like the right thing to pass the time,,,

we, have set the date as the 7th of may
which is best part of 7 mths away, for optimum planning by all parties,, and as Rhodie  said is the end of the wet season up here,, and not yet cold any where,,
ideal riding time of year

Ev has a pile of room for free camping {and a small  campfire :o } and lots of room for saturday evenings offialness,, which is near Childers, on h-way 1,,,about 3 klm out of town

for those that want a longer break or a bit of a look around, free accom  can be arrange further

proposed is catering for saturday lunch and and sunday brekky by bundy chapter,, saturday tea  we're thinking of spit roast type catered do,, and an eski of a couple of beers and drinks for the girls, all at a cost to be advised, will be easier than everybody lugging and buying their own supplies

I won't speak for the other fella's here,, :-X

BUT,, if the opportunity presented itself to host a get together of this proportion with the calibre of fella's and girls coming,, with an obvious love for these bikes, 8),,I'll forgo a ride :o,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, just this once :P,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,unless you reallly want me to ride ::)

my other 2 brothers can help with logistics if they feel,

but for my money, and Mrs Steptoe's {has already put her hand up} would be a cool thing to do

That's it guys...I like what I'm hearing!!! How about Coober Pede, Birdsville or some other outback pub for all of us, so that Steptoe can join the ride. I reakon next year April, so that we don't get wet and spend the whole weekend washing and polishing bikes!!!

Looking forward to it.....Rhodie55.

Hey Steptoe if the Bundy district XS11 association do the hosting you'se wont get a ride.
Reckon its up to the Administrators to cook up the idea of a Place and time(thats why they get the big bucks) ;D ;D. Put it up and then the rest of us will have to plan around it. To my mind far western NSW looks roughly central with the thumb scale
