Hey Phill, can't help you with the leak from the back but have you tried rubing the valve disc, wich is the tap handle, on some fine sandpaper on a sheet of glass to flatten the surface that sits against the rubber disc with the four holes in it? I had to do this with mine a couple of times to stop them from leaking even with new kits, you may have to double up the little wavy washer, wich gives it tension, or shim it about 10 or 20 thou, see how ya go.. oh! and use rubber grease when you put them back together.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you, Phil. been scouring both my manuals for some sort of diagram or pic, but no joy. I did find a thread on the UK site which might help a little bit though.

Thanks eveready, I will look that site up this afternoon when I finish work and hopefully it will shed some light on it.

hey phil, dnt know if this helps, if u slightly grind down the little tab at the top of the chrome cover plate this allows the lever 2 point upwards affectively giving an off position, i did this 2 mine the other day.  Or do u mean its leaking to the outside?

Hey Peter, thanks for the suggestion mate but mine are leaking from both the outside and inside, talk about frustrating. I was thinking about maybe soda blasting the inside face where the "o" ring sits so it has a clean surface, but not sure if this would be possible.

Hey Eveready, yes the kits came with the diaphragms and everything was replaced. one thing I did notice when I was replacing the diaphragms was there is a small brass disc that sits in a hole behind the diaphragm and in one tap this disc fell out. It has a smooth surface one one side and the other side has a groove in it, I thought that maybe I had put it back the wrong side up so I replaced it the other way but still no success. Also the diaphragm has a matching vent hole which I lined up with the vent hole of the tap body, I assume this would be correct or is it here that I have made a mistake. The repare manual does nothing to make this rebuild easy as there is no reference as to if these two holes line up.

Mate, when you say "seal Kits", did that include the diaphrams, because that's where the little vents lead from. From your description, I'd say the diaphrams are perforated letting the fuel run out through the vents. Also, the O-rings on the diaphram valves (come as one assembly) could do with some scrutiny, too.

Hey guys, does anyone have 2 decent fuel taps for a standard model that they want to sell? my ones don't seem to be able to hold their fluid too well, I have put new seal kits in both taps but as soon as I start the engine the taps start to leak (from a small breather hole in the tap body) and continue to leak until I empty the tank. One tap is worse than the other, but I figure that they both need replacing as when the tank is off the bike they seep fuel from the outlet pipes. Turning the tap to "res" does nothing to stop this seeping. Or does anyone know of somewhere that could recondition my old taps?
