GARDEN GATE!!  in 1988 i did a trip from goondawindi to bundaberg ( can't remember the distance or time) but the average speed was 142 k's  two up, girlfriend didn't like it so i got rid of her! there's no reason an xs in good condition couldn't do that today, but i'm sure i couldn't!!!

@ Steptoe:
Would personally prefer NOT to be chosen as passenger, when you start testing those speeds on the old gardengates we are riding...  ;) ;D

I would've thought more like a bank safe door than a garden gate ;D

for a 30 something year old analogue speedo,
they're pretty accurate.
in the manual they state 60 and 80k's as indicated are actual speeds.

Tacho very poor at 130kph swings wildly like an old EH fuel guage from about 5-7k.....

Mine says 4K at 100Kmp/h... Never held it against a GPS though, but think that would be more correct than 6K, since you end up on more revs than the bike can show at topspeed  :)

Hmmm.......good tip Melb,
I just happen to have a spare bicycle handle bar bracket thingy doing nothing..........not anymore

What revs are you doing at 100K's or what speed are you doing at 6 grand?

I know Jeff in Melb has one, but it's a dedicated motorcycle one.

You could get one of these:

Good site and cheap as.

Any of you lot ever fitted one of these, I got a car one that suction cups to the windscreen but i wouldnt trust it to stay in place on a bike. Got any pics or tips how you fitted yours?

I mainly want to put one on to check my speedo. I'm doing about 6000rpm for 100Kph. I'm pretty sure this is wrong.....but which one?
