from my previous experience with racing speedway i know that taking ports out too much on a basicly standard engine can be detrimental to engine performance, what i would like to know is would cleaning out the ports a bit, open them up slightly, give me a bit more performance? or would it just compound the already finiky carb tuning? I did some drastic port work on a z900 head years ago and it went like a rocket, had to go up 2 sizes in the mains tho, I've been warned against doing any port work on the old girl so if anyone has any thoughts or pics would be appreciated, i've read the blog from the guy in the us but think he went a bit too far without doing cams, and he had tuning issues too, so, any thoughts??cheers..
