Hi I bought my first xs1100 in 1979,it was the last new e model sold I was told,I had the choice of the e model or the f and the e paint job looked a lot nicer,I was tossing up buying one nine months earlier but ended up buying a cx500,that was a big mistake,I had it nine months and 14,000 ks three months of which where spent in the dealers being repaired,the last time it came back I traded it in on the xs which I had eight years,the one thing that sticks in my mind is it still had the original battery when I traded it on my first BMW. Many years later around 2002 I saw an e model cheap in the local classifieds and bought I it thinking to restore it but it was ugly with a poor green paint job and everything else coated in black,then the g model I have now turned up and the e became parts,its on classic rego and gets a run with the local classic bike club its only showing 50,000 ks on the speedo and still has the original headers with stainless mufflers but has light rust everywhere and is mostly original
