G'day Jan,

welcome to the XSive Brotherhood.

I'm also astride a '78E with 330,000 klm on the clock with the Wiseco 1179 kit fitted at 200,000 klm.
I only went for the small bore kit to leave me the option of taking out some more meat some day and go the 1196.

Post a few pics mate.

Sorry Carsten, my 5k7 parts was handed over along with the bike when i sold it, should have mentioned that my stock is only E-model parts nowadays, my bad  :-[

I`ll keep an eye out for one on German Ebay, and post a link if one pops up....

If you want to check for it there once in a while yourself they call the taillight "Rücklicht" and the bracket/unit "Rücklicht-Träger".

I`ll be more than happy to help out if correspondance or shipping Down-Under should be an issue  :)

Cheers

Welcome Jan.  In amongst your parts, would there be a taillight unit (with indicators) to fit an 81 RH, which is the same as the 5K7.
Thanks
Carsten

Gidday and welcome to the site, Jan.
It's surprising how many of these bikes are still around after all this time and the greater percentage of them are in really good condition for their age. It's funny how this new technology (internet) is helping the old technology (XS11's) on the road by enabling owners to tell their woes (or wins) to others who are everso willing to help out, or benefit from their experiences.
I hope you enjoy your visits here, mate.

Nice site you guys have here, looking forward to spend hours reading all your interesting posts in here :)

Im a 42 year old male from Denmark, and presently riding a 2. owner 1978 E-model with 61000 original kilometers on the clock, only mechanical parts ever changed is the oildeflectors in the head, which i had to replace last year because the rubber started to crack after 31 years....hope thats the only part that can go bad in the old lady, and ill be safe in the toolshed until im 73  ;)

.....well, kinda know thats not the case, started out with a 1981 XS1100S (5K7) fitted with Wiseco 1200 bigbore-kit, and that piece of crap had close to every part changed in the 2 year period i had the patience for her, ironicly a friend of mine bought it of my hands after due warnings and at a more than fair price, and he has`nt seen one bad move from her in over 6 years, so starting to think that the problem was more chemical than mechanical between her and me  ;D

At the moment im sitting on a fair share of used parts for the old ladies, and have a great list of contacts up here in Scandinavia, so do not hesitate to ask if theres a hard obtainable part you guys are looking for, and ill try my best to help you out.
(This was not a business-commercial, but an offer to help fellow XS-mates, and believe you me, i`ll ask for help down here if i need that itty-bitty piece that will help me roam the roads for another season.)

Salute to you all, and keep her purrin`

Jan
