I also would not recommend use on a bearing....unless your up shite creek without a new one and freeing it up would get you home....it is an intermittent/temporary solution in some instances. Don t underestimate the uses and help it can provide.....down to removing that stubborn mounting screw without mashing the head or shearing that stubborn  bolt.
It provides a temporary film which does eventually dry out.
Sorry xtian....won t be at the rally to" chew the fat ". No reference whatsoever to Michelles fabulous cooking  ;D.

WD40 is for water displacement and getting stains off carpets it is not a lubricant and actually can attract dust etc.
Basically kero in a can sort of.
If you use it on a bearing it could cause the premature death of said.

As part of  preventative maintainence whilst working on ships docked at port before they set sail .....this product was extensively used to prevent a number of issues for mechanical/ electrical and corrosion on their electrical main switchboards.
You don t want issues once at sea.

I ve never had an issue ...but each to their own. Nothing wrong with the other 2 options you mention as well, xtian. Follow manufacturers instructions for use would be the ticket i guess.
I would say beware of petro chemical products around plastic parts though.
What issues have you had or know of re wd40 xtian ?

NEVER use WD40 on switch gear or anything you want to last. Always use a good quality silicon spray or better still clean totally and coat with dielectric grease

Rule 1 (for the uninitiated)
If all is working as it should leave well enough alone.
On ya bike scoota....head off and enjoy the rally.
Rule 2 (for the "she ll be righters)
Fix that connection or swap out that sometimes flat battery before you head off. Deal with known intermittent issues asap.
The bar end switchgear will benefit from an internal spray of wd40 or similar. Take a spare headlight/stop/tail and indicator globe with you. Do carry a suitable range of spare fuses..... a pocket tester and pliers and a couple of different bladed screwdrivers. Insulation tape ....solder and a butane solder torch. If you can t fix it....all this will come in handy for someone who can.
