an odometer is a good fuel gauge because you know how many k's you
 can do on reserve and you hit the odo back to zero as when you fill
 the tank you always fill it to the brim and you know the k's to reserve
 coz you're likely averaging around 14 k's to a litre.

The safer side about 120 k's as half-tank used until worrying
 about where the next gas station is so the $25 wristwatch-type speedo
with a displaying odo still fine if the poor went-sluggish
 eleven speedo eventually gets kissed goodbye into the bin.

also, the horrifying inconvenience of enforced manual blinker cancelling operation from
not having the secretive blinker-canceller-gadget-thingy in the elevens speedo
(still no-one has ever figured out how it operates - possibly gamma-rays..)
 - is a hardship that can be eventually be tolerated...

Blinker cancel cct works from the reed switch in the speedo, I have the circuit and also a modification for using an LED blinker unit.

Hey PGNZ I totally agree with having a fuel gage I have to use the odometer trick on my bmw as it dosent haveca gage it's a pain if I forget to set it though ,as for distance from a full tank mine might be a bit diffrent as I have cut out the centre section of mine 😉 lucky its a hack so if need be I can carry extra fuel no worries.
I'm thinking of getting one of these bad boys  https://www.shop.modernmotorcyclecompany.com.au/products/motogadget-motoscope-mini-digital-speedo  keeping the original speedo as I have also read that the speedo can free up with a bit of use and this bike has been static for 7 years so might just need a good run to free things up . As for self cancelling indicators that's not a problem as I have fully re wired the bike with a motogadget M unit blue sys so I can program heaps of features with the bike including indicator cancling.
Once o get the engineers signature and get the rego done then ill finally be able to take her for a decent run and work out some of the bugs 👍

Hi Jonsey I was thinking down that line as well maby the m unit mini as I have am unit installed on the bike but they are not cheap ill do some more home work thanks for the reply Tarn

I gave up on trying to fix Speedos, I leave the old speedo in place for aesthetics and run a digital pushbike speedo along side. Not much bigger than a wrist watch

Hi out there in xs land . So I have been able to do some around the block runs on the hack and a couple of longer  trips to the enginer in preperation  for getting the mo ster registered,  but I have found that the speedi runs very slow and when I sat very slow I mean showing 20k when im doing 75k ( using my phone as gps speedo ) I watched steptoes vid on pulling apart and repairing so I had a go at spraying some lube up there and on today's around the block run was getting 20k while doing 56k so slightly better 😀.  My question is should I cut my losses and look at retro fitting a digital unit (hopefully in side the original housing) or is there a fix tht is worth trying befor I start cutting up the old unit ? Any advice greatly appreciated.  Stay safe Tarn
