The final chapter for 581 .............
Its now got full nsw rego, Just wanted to register it once so it was officially in my name,
I also got an ELLS insurance policy taken out on it.
plus  I fitted it up with its original pipes and handlebars that I stole off it for the bourke bike so now its pretty much as it left the factory  excluding shocks.

And the Eveready Low Oil Level Sump insurance policy. ( Thanks mate)
Light went out after I put about 1.8L of oil in.

If I had a towbar fitted you trailer would have accommodated everything I need, where as if I was supplying tools for a whole crew I'd need Geoff's....its a big mother isn't it.

That tow bar is awesome. Is there any legalities that need to be adhered to prior to putting one on?

Well winters long gone, spring has past and now finally, at nearly mid summer, I got to go for a proper run today, 280km and havent hit reserve yet from a side stand fillup, blows no smoke, doesnt leak oil, no clutch slipping or 2nd gear issues and it Idles nicely (re did colour and carb tune yesterday after so many off and ons and strip downs of the carbys looking for the flooding problem) .........very happy with this old parts bike.
$2509 purchase price and approx $900 in extra parts and incidentals over and above the parts  that came with it. By the time its registered she'll be about $4K+  bike.

after a finger pulling exercise I pulled the carbies and tank off and fitted new float valves in all 4 carbies and cleaned a dirty valve seat in one of the fuel taps that was causing fuel to flood and leak out the air box. Now I'm ready to clock up some Kays and really assess what this bike is like, so far, with just the few sneaky unplated test runs I've done it feels better than the Bourke bike even with a 4-1 it pulls equal or a bit stronger and feels less vibey through the bars n pegs, hmm somewhere along the line I'll have to get some rego too as this bike will be going to bourke

Jonesy, if you've got that much gear to take, Steptoe's trailer will hold a shipload more than mine.

I don't recall you mentioning that you've fitted a towbar to either of your bikes, though???

Great to see you got there Jonesy it looks like a great job, the carby issues sounded familiar  ;) Pity you are not riding it over.
Do they enter bikes in the Bathurst hill climb, that is on soon I think?

yep definitely too good for parts
In fact it might be better than the other one I took to Bourke (that the 4-1 pipes are off) I'm now thinking of putting all the good bits I stole off it incl 4-2 pipes to keep its provinence or whatever the word is. The paints a bit ordinary but that'll be part of its growing old gracefully.......toying with putting the bourke bike up for sale :-\
Just give us pm or txt when your going out Bathurst - Sofala way.
scroll down to the end of this link.......might be worth catching up then?

Nice work Paul, it looks too good to part now! Is that the big two into one off the other bike?? Notice any performance difference on this engine with that pipe?
Might have to catch up soon, was out Oberon /Tarana yesterday on the MHR for a little fun and games, you will have to give the heads up where you are (use PM or call) and I will swing by next outing.
