Thanks for the replies.  I sourced the front indicator brackets from Bulldog Wreckers.  He remembered me and I told him of the forum replies re : his prices were way over the top.  His initial price for the front brackets were criminal, "You know, Ive got kids to feed"  We settled on a price more than half the starting price.  Waiting for them to arrive.  Found a retired bike mechanic in Hobart that loves the old bikes.  Hes got the RH in his garage as of yesterday.  Hope to ride it home when finished.  Its a small workd Carl.  My first choice for repairer was Dave, (Spannerman) who according to Paul (Stretch) Hollick, who is my regular riding  partner, you went to the mainland with to buy the XS's.  Unfortunately Dave is building and was unable to look at the RH.

That's why I started breaking bikes Melbs.....Got sick of paying bloody rip off prices so just brought whole bikes - got what I needed and eBayed the rest. It started to pay off (financially) as well as supplying me with ample parts so I just started doing it to bikes I didn't want (or no one else). Now it's a hobby that finances my other hobby IE: bike addiction. Mutual companions. Just a shame I ran out of wrecked XS1100 bikes (sounds like I would have had a few customers.... :D ). Carsten, I buy stuff from the states and germany all the time with no probs so far..... 8)....fingers crossed. Even a cafe seat from Vietnam, but that is a long story...... :( but ended up  :D.....

Carsten

every last part I have bought for the bike has come from the states because of the price difference. Breakers and dealers over here are ripping people senseless.

All of the 2nd hand stuff I have ordered from the US has arrived within 7-10 days and all of it has been in VERY good nick.

Hi Carsten, I went to Bulldogs the other week because he said he had a good seat for my RH and wanted $220 for it. The seat ended up being absolutely ratshite, tons worse than the one I already had which is rooted & beyond repair. I've heard from other people that he's expensive, but has a huge range of stuff. Anyway, I ended up finding a seat from the states. It's a virtually NOS seat from a standard 80 model, doesn't fit right at the tank, but will do for now. I got it, delivered to my door, for less than the piece of crap Bulldog tried to sell me.

Fungy's right about just being patient with eBay. Some good & cheap stuff does occasionally turn up there, you just have to be patient.... I'm on the lookout for a tail light assembly for mine now. That's testing my patience I gotta tell you...

Cheers.

Carsten mate I am so sorry....I sold 5 or 6 long before you brought the bike all for an average price of $25-$35 dollars. Thats eBay for you...great for buyers sucks sometimes for sellers. They do come up cheap in the US but you just have to wait. When I need parts I set up a saved search and wait for the emails to come in and then check the emails. Let eBay do the searching for you and then wait.
Good luck with future parts

I finally sourced a brakelight/indicator assembly (complete but average condition) from Bulldog Wreckers. I have ebay'ed the world and rang a heap of wreckers with no luck.  I paid $196.  Question - given how hard they are to find and being new to sourcing parts, did I pay too much?
This will help give me an idea for the future.
Thanks
Carsten
