So......a test at the battery 12.8v at idle ....14.7v at 2,000 rpm.....no load.
Charging system and battery all good.
Wiring loom...fuses ...switches etc in excellent condition and working order.
Voltage drop tests as follows...
A quick test at the headlight lamp connector....... put me in the "Poor" category @ 53% efficiency and 11.8v at idle....low beam on.
I t should be noted the poor result is exacerbated by the extra load applied under test ......due to the dual filament front indicators which operate in conjunction with the headlight.
End result ....purchased a "Matchbox Relay".
Can highly recommend the seller and manufacturer of these units.
Quick replys and extra fast service.
All transactions should be as good as this.
More to come..... as I transform the electrical to peak headlight performance.

In my opinion and from experience not much comes close to the Matchbox Relay for size and specs.

I used this guy http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Wiring_Kits/H4_Kits/h4_kits.html on my BMW K1100LT about 7 years ago, I run a 90 watt low beam and 110 watt High beam, I made an order the same day as something from Melbourne and this guy's headlight upgrade arrived first from Japan, go figure :P

Never thought about one for the RH as it isn't my primary source of travel, although I guess it wouldn't hurt, nothing but good feedback from other sites or myself?

Cheers
Lou

The "Matchbox Relay " supplier I m assuming will respond to an email for a requested purchase.
http://culayer.com/PCB_Design_index.htm
http://www.motorcycleclassics.com/mc-how-to/install-headlamp-relay.aspx
Here s another option...........and a little cheaper.
$36.00 + free postage.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Twin-Headlight-Relay-Fused-Genuine-New-Era-Twin-Fused-Made-in-Japan-NLR-132-/160993200038?hash=item257bf147a6:g:RssAAOxyQj9RR~iX

You would remove the mounting plate to minimise the fit in the headlight shell....and heatshrink over the screw tab connections on the unit......then Velcro into the headlight shell.
Dimensions would come in at 61mmL X 36mmmH X 73mm W
or
a pair of these....

Keep in mind when fitting a relay to your headlight circuits ...the reserve lighting unit (RLU) will no longer operate on filament failure . ie switching to high beam.......should the low beam filament fail.
