2 things I forgot to mention,,

we had a visit from Pedro,{Lismore} he brought his bike down in the trailer and did the sunday morning run with us, am sorry it was such a scattered run and he didn,t get to spend as much time with us all as I,d have liked.

the other was saturday nights auction, a lot smaller amount than last yr but still close to $300,, I can,t believe it has been so hard finding an individual person/family to give the money to that would welcome it more than a national bucket, the local paper has been as handy as an ashtray on a bike, we may have found a new avenue to go , so will let you all know when it happens,

another group ride today, albeit quick one over to Ebor then Dorrigo and back as several had to start heading home.

20 minutes into the ride it started to get decidedly cool, and cooler and cooler then it damn well got out right cold, Tim ran out of fuel 3 klm from the servo that had a nice warm pot belly fire going with all of us huddled around it with a 3 degree outside temp, at 12 pm if you don,t mind thankyou very bloody much, so we didn,t stick round long and headed for warmer air.
we're told as we left for the run the wind picked up substantially, thus shredding our flag, it is no more

for those of us left it was a lazy afternoon sitting round,, more lies and stories and a little tinkering

every body else headed home the next morning concluding the 2014 rally,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as for us we decided to go home the same pace we came down , 15 klmout of Grafton was a sign saying "old Glenn Innes rd", sounds like a nice curvy rd unlike the wide straight one today,,,,,, yeh right,,,,,,,,

not so,, :-\ it turned to dirt, then a goat track, then a gaot track with lots of rocks, then turned into the original bullock track from the late 1800,s early 1900,s,,,,,,, no literally thats what it was, it took us way out the back of the mountains thru 2 deserted gold rush towns and convict built tunnels

not to mention the freshly graded dirt rd that the grader had pulled all the loose sand out of the table drain and left it 6 inches deep in the middle of the track,
we didn,t fall off but there were legs everywhere more than once going for balance as the trailer was dragging the bike away from the crown in the centre of the track,
by the time we hit bitumen again we,d travelled 130klm, taken 9 hrs to do it and was still not in Glenn Innnes,
some had suggested it had been 3 degrees there, so we kept motoring back towards the coast ending up at Casino,, a whole 80 klm from Grafton on todays main roads,

from there an uneventfull ride to home nothing broken, missing or damaged,,

thanks to all that made it the rally that it was, especially Paul {4 days in the saddle} and Coops for their mammoth effort, see you all next yr :)

am seriously sorry for the delay, have been so busy, and yes I,d forgotten at one point :-[, lucky no one was hanging by their toe nails waiting,

Saturday morning saw a day that needed to be ridden in, for most of us, quite a few of the fella,s {and Jen} went for a ride to Dorrigo and beyond.

Coops won the un-official Bretts award this yr having broken both gearsack brackets on the way, as luck would have it Paul had a strap in his sundries bag that came in handy, so Coops, Xtian Eddie, Michelle and myself went into town on the Saturday to find a fix a bracket place, we commandeered would probably be the right word the local Suzuki dealers w/shop and made new ones
http://xs1100.com.au/forum/index.php?topic=2383.0, no need to double post .

a bit more 1100ing over bike washes and a coffee it was back out to camp to see what was going on,

it was a really top spot, while Coops and others helped fit the brackets the rest stood in the sun and told lies and stories.
It was Eddies idea to get all the bikes in yr order and model # for a group shot,, it took some doing but it was worth it
come on Paul just another 2mm mate,, that's it

Our host Scott has the goatie

and this one just because, Xtian with his brand new 33yr old bike

over nibblies the awards were handed out,
Paul received longest distance,, almost 2500klm +,-

 Scotty received best unmolested{original}

Coops received oldest bike rider combo

I received youngest combo,,,,,,,, again {I,m going to have to get older}

Xtian received peoples choice,

and Michelle received longest distance pillion

Jonesy looks pretty comfy doesn,t he :o ;D ;D,, Coops looks horrified and Eddie is turning his torch on to see clearly

Hen was given the offial "t"shirt ordering job with his relentless work with the copyright issues,

then it was a few more ales and bed

Sunday saw the same horrible sort of day, nice warm sunshine with 16 1100,s in view

the Steptoes' story
« Reply #107 on: June 15, 2014, 02:26:45 PM »
it was decided a while ago this trip was going to be done a leisurely pace,

whoops, wheres the exhaust pipe

leaving home mid morning and rolling pretty much thru to Beaudesert that evening, not getting wet but watching storms building up all around
the rest of the Qld chapter showed up next morning except Hen and Tom, who were still having rain so they,d meet us down the road

from Beauy down to Nymboida was wet roads and rain, uneventful but for the bitumen snakes as Tim called them, {it,s were they pour wet tar into cracks in the road} & except for the fact that Bryans, Evs' and my bike all experienced the heavy rain miss and fart of the sparking, Bryans actually stopped at one point, we picked Hen and co up at Casino {I think}

Friday afternoon 3.00 pm saw us roll into our abode for the w/end,

and by 4.30 some had settled in and were admiring the best bike there,,,,,,,, apparently

not long after we arrived the other lads started turning up also
by the time every body had rolled in it had gone dark, cold, foggy, and was about 8.30,, tea was ordered beers were being had, and there was still one member missing, bugga, dammit, bugga, where is he, which way do you go to look for him, no phone signal, bugga, so we couldn,t send 2 teams in differing directions looking, dammit, try ring him,,,,, nothing, then a broken reply phone call, couldn,t make anything out so rang back, left a message, where the bloody hell are you, are you right, a second return call, yes alright taking my time, {no shit sherlock :-X} be there shortly,, almost 10.00 pm Xtian rolled in, phew finally, can stop stressing now, a couple more beverages and into bed for a good sleep

                                                       the rest next week

Let's just say when I have a little problem, I use a little hammer  ;D

I, 've enlisted the services of a 14lb sledgehammer to "talk" to it, :-\ unless Michelle can fix it before I get home

Fuel economy  8)
After Mr Steptoe's carby balance and adjustment of idle mixtures no real difference in economy apart from smoother idle but Sh!! Update just cleaned the Office desk and found Fuel receipt.. before Mr Steptoe touch up
13.38 km per litre
7.47l per 100km
60km per (gallon)
267km to 20 litres

After (what a Guy)

14.61 km per litre or
 6.84l per 100km
65km per 4.5 litres (gallon)
That equates to 292 km to 20litres wow :o
How did we all go :'(
