I have occasionally used a suitably sized socket and tapped it down the end of the pipe that has been pre heated.......works for plastic as well as metal.......just as long as  it s not too long a length and you can tap it back out from the other end.

Mel yeah the XS carbs are about 115mm length but between rubbers it's 90mm,  and 80mm on the zrx carbs,  only 10mm difference bro

Mel that's weird,  my zrx carbs inlet side only sit 10mm forward,  just elongated the frames side bracket holes with a chainsaw file to move the airbox forward slightly,  and did away with the top bracket by cutting it off,  the top one's not needed once the carbs are clamped.  can't even tell that the airbox has moved it's only 10mm,  those zrx carbs bodies are 80mm between the inlet and outlet rubbers,  XS11 carb is 90mm

Patrick

Just measured the RH carbs and they are 115mm between inlet and outlet. That's why there's a problem. I now realise that there's no example online of anyone having done the mod on an RH or a Sport.

I'll rig something up, it just won't be quite as easy as I thought.

Fred,  kicker off XS850,  footpeg clearance no good on '78E type but all good with the more forward-set 80's footpegs,  mine a 78E so I modded a folding pillion peg to get clearance.   also needs a re-positioned groove dremelled/filed across the kickshaft spline for the kick-levers' locking bolt

Hey PG

what bike is the folding kicker off mate? and did it fit straight on or did you have to mod anything up?

Anyone know of a reasonably priced machine shop or individual in, or near Melb? Or someone who can flare 2 1/4" exhaust tubing?

I need to fabricate extenders for the ZRX carbs so that they meet the velocity stacks. The gap is way too big to just move the airbox forward. There's a 35mm gap and the bike will look crazy if I pull the airbox that far forward.

2 1/4" tubing would only need flared by about 2mm to make a perfect fit.
