all I know is the diaphragm I pulled out of an octy has a shorter/longer plunger than the fuel tap one, and a breather hole or suchlike doesn't match,  only looked by eye,  didn't try it,  doubt it would've worked

oh well, if pgnz is right looks like Lou has some spare tap diaphragms and the UK part finder site needs to correct the statement they are the same.

By the way Lou,  2 diaphragms are on there way, I sent 2 as I realised they are not new but good condition 2nd hand and hedged my bets that 1 of them might do the job ?

Lou, one other thing for you to check is the fuel cap breather. If it's blocked up, your bike will behave in exactly the manner you're describing.

Hey Lou,

I got one of these recently

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/XJ1100-XS1100-SPECIAL-PETCOCK-KIT-XS1100SF-XS1100LH-/360778422321?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item540011d831

delivery was within a week.

Eddy
I too have had nothing but great service and parts from this guy. His shipping and reliability is second to none on ebay.
I have in my possession several of the XS11's parts fiches and schematics and part numbers (in PDF form) for the north american bikes. Just not sure how much info on them would / would not be pertinent to Australian bikes. We do not have a model 1981RH available to us but I am fairly certain that most of the files would be similar enough to work with.
Any way If I can figure out how to do it on this stupid new windows 8 computer I would be happy to send them to someone who would be able to use them. I am thinking you would have to PM me your email so I could send them to you but I know as I have never yet tried it. If someone wants to take a chance lets see if I can send one.
78E, 79SF currently running and road ready.
1 more in the wings patiently waiting with a big bore kit already installed.

EDIT
Sorry Eddy, you must be a bit quicker on the keyboard than me

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT 2
Lou, I had a look at the site I linked and found that the fuel tap diaphragm is the same as the octy diaphragm,( I didn't know that, not being a roundy owner) I've got one here you can have if you like.
PM me and I can post to you

Loss of Vacum and part number.

Hi guy's,

Went to the Goulburn rally on the weekend and the bike played up like it was running out of fuel, but if I flicked the taps onto prime the bike ran O.K. flick them to normal and sometimes I could ride 80 Kms  (distance) before it would happen again another time only 14 Kms and one time 100Kms, total distance I rode on the weekend was a bit over 400Ks. Tonight I pulled apart the octopus looks a bit frayed on the edges but not that bad, checked all the other hoses for splits and all are O.K including the vacuum from the carb manifold.

So would anyone have the part number for that diaphragm that fits in there, come to think of it does anyone have a parts listing I can access, copy or buy?

Cheers

Lou 81RH
