Here's my setup. I just eliminated the brackets altogether.


 ^ A pair of solid ally blocks carry the load easily. I've had my share of broken strap brackets so this is how I got around the problem forever.


 ^ The bolts go through the original indicator rubbers which are sandwiched between some large flat washers. It's still a rubber mount, but it doesn't move......... at all!


 ^ The original front hanger brackets are gone too. I modified the ends to bolt directly to the shock mount. Makes removing the shocks a bit of a chore, but how often do we do that? I'm pretty certain Gearsack made those brackets to limit how much load could be put on their racks, but I've never had a drama with any of the racks themselves. Just the small brackets they came with.


 ^ One last mod to this rack was to relocate my auxiliary brake light further forward. It sat right at the rear of my old rack, which made it right in the way if you wanted to pull the bike backwards out of a park etc.
