My wife and myself plus another couple are looking at IOM in 2013.  The Get Routed plan looks good as it includes accomodation on the Island.  The only problem with Get Routed is the length of time.  Kids not quite old enough for us to leave them for an extended holiday.  Might be better to hire bike.  Christiian - did you use your bike much on the Island, is it worth having your own transport?  If we took our own bike it would be the Honda ST1100.

There is always "GetRouted" for shipping

http://www.getrouted.com.au/

They do bulk freights at IOM times of year, maybe we could get a club rate  ;D ;D

...what a shame I am 2 years too late. Maybe there will be a 35Th year celebration somewhere and I can attend that.  ;D

There's an XS1100 'International Rally' held in Europe in June every year.   ;D
June 2010 will be in Bremerhaven, Germany.  I'm looking forward to June 2012 when it will be in England.

If any of you guys want to come over for the rally I think it would be a lot cheaper to buy/borrow an XS1100 when you get here rather than shipping one with you.

Christian,

It sounds like you were going to the Fatherland for a purpose.
You got rellies there?
I've got a shit load of them there as I'm a born and bred Kraut. Came over in the early sixties on the $10 plan.
Free feed and board if I ever get there. Rally Time would be excellent.

Damn, well that has certainly put a dampener on things. I knew it wouldn't be cheap, but hell I didn't expect it to be that much  :o. Maybe I will look at hiring a bike where ever we end up going to, saw a DVD once shot in India. They hired the locally produced Royal Enfield, but only the 350cc version, and it looked like they had a ball.

It was a BIG promise to myself after fixing the bike and having my leg fixed. It was something I wanted to do for a while and after the accident I made myself do it before it was too late.
Just really lucky it happened to be at the same time as the XS rally in Germany.

Mate I flew it over as luggage with me as I had only had time to get it back together after the accident so that was $2400 then customs UK$400 getting it back here by ship $900
Picking it up from Port Botany and those robbing BASTARDS Patricks $1600.

Now when were you planning to go????? :o :o :o :o

Honestly though it was worth it for me but if you plan something like that best to go with Get Routed, I just did not have the time to organize that.

Oh and I forgot green-slip for UK and EU for 8 weeks $200

Hey Christian, can I ask how much it cost to freight your bike across. I am really eager to ride my bike overseas and haven't yet decided on what country, but am curious as to the freight costs.
I am sure it would have been awesome for you attending the anniversary, what a shame I am 2 years too late. Maybe there will be a 35Th year celebration somewhere and I can attend that.  ;D
