Well, since you paid 1/20th of what I paid for my XS1100G 1980 I'll be polite and say I am very envious!
I can now guess how much the importer of mine made on the deal - but I was happy at the time or i wouldn't have paid the money.
Nice bike for hooting across the prairies of Canada, up through the Rockies etc.....

BASTARD!!!!!!!

cheers

Hi
Just saw your bike with the Panniers Have not seen protectors like that before.
Are they common over there.

Cheers John( Hen)
Best I can tell is that those bags were a dealer option over here. Many have that protective metal surround but the only ones I am aware of were the dealer installed ones. I have been wrong many times in my life and stand to be corrected on this. All of the different styles I have do have the protector on then but in varying ways. I have had three sets of these on the different bikes I have had and all were very similar. Some only had the one bar across the back while others had two. There were variations of the front look on the protectors as well, but one had to look to see the differences.

Hi Ras
Welcome to the site  $500 bucks  :'( you won't get a bargain like that here. I love the top box on the crusier I wish I could get one here but they never brought that model to Australia .I got mine from a American bloke who came over in 1981 and brought it with him ..

I finally rolled the 81LH MNS Frankenbike out of the garage last night. A few too many beers to be doing any test riding so put it off until tonight. Huge rain is just about here so I settled for a few pictures for now. Sorry it is not a brighter day to take better pics but they will come after touch ups. Been 4 yrs since I bought it and I have been tinkering with this one from time to time ever since. Forget the date on the pics as I am too lazy to change the date once the batteries have expired.

First pic is how it looked when I dragged it home and asked SWMBO if I could keep it.

This is how it looks now. Still needs some touch ups after I test ride it but not going to fix those till I know it runs great.

This has been sitting around too long gathering dust.

So I am spending the evening getting it ready to go into this.

A few things yet to do before I put it in. Might get a buddy over to help guide it in so I don't wreck any paint.

I knew how Fred meant his statement and I did appreciate the humour. I just always tell people that they will either love me or hate me but they will never forget me once they know me better  ;D
Low mileage bikes in good condition are always available around here for cheap. Mostly a product of our winters as the bikes never get ridden for at least half of the year. So most (but not all) age gracefully, and when they get so old people trade up for newer bikes.

Hey Fred,
Hope ras sees the humor in your comment, I had a chuckle to myself when I read it
Hey ras when you get another cheap bike just put a 1 in front of the amount you paid so we dont get too jealous.

That's ok You will learn to either love me or hate me on this forum. The choice is simply yours. The most I have ever paid for a running/ride it home bike is 1300 bucks and I was miserable that he upped his price once i drove the 200 or so miles. What a dink!
