Been reading about how everyone's getting their bikes ready for the big trip, so thought I'd put up how I spent my lastdays off until my departure on Thursday...
Just another little job to do before looking at my bike....
Bit of a story, firstly, we picked up a replacement for our trusty Astra.....

Spent the first few days relearning how to drive, as everything is on opposite side to the norm, then set about modifying it so Neriel's powerchair could get into the back of it.

Missed a heap of progress pics here, bit here's the lift unit mounted on an ally checkerplate base with box steel framework, utilising the existing restraint anchor points in the back of the car. I didn't have to drill a single hole in the car itself!

Fabbed up an evevated mount for the battery box which powers the lift motor........

And it works!!!

Just pull the lift arm out from the back of the car......

Park chair near the rear bumper and attach hoist bracket (no bolts or anything, It just slips into place!

Lift the chair up.....

And just swing it in! Easy as!

Strap the chair down, close the tailgate and away you go!

Finally got the bike into Neriels shed at about 6.30 tonight for a bit of a going over. Checked diff oil and middle drive case. Changed engine oil, and got called in for dinner.(Note-NEVER pass up dinner!!)
Other than a fresh set of plugs (maybe, I'm on 7 days roster from today), I'll be good to go Thursday arvo!
Oh, and will check tyre pressures before I leave.
See you all there!!
