The end is in sight, at least for stage one as the body work has to be painted sometime in the future.

These photos show the bike just prior to me re-fitting the fairing.

This morning I rolled it out of the shed with fairing fitted and took it for a good ride in the hills and down to a place called Goolwa as you can see.

The weather held off and it was a good ride, I called in to see Mal and we made a couple of adjustments, so more riding tomorrow to finish running it in, ready for an oil change on Sat at Brian's place.

So far so good, looking forward to Bourke now  ;)Cheers

A quick update

I took the old girl out for a ride today  ;D  bigger rides are planned over the next few days, nothing quite like getting it all together at the last minute.  :)

More photos soon

Paul, I reckon any XS1100 is a "work in progress" There's always something to do on them.
However, your bike is going to be a stunner. Sure you can chuck your old, weathered bodywork on it, but when looked at from withing a couple of feet, the quality will shine through.
Going to be a real gem, albiet in the rough!
Mine looks half decent from about ten feet away but yours will appear nicer the closer one gets.
Can't wait to meet up with you.
Not long now!!

Thanks Scarfey

I'm beginning to think I should have painted all the maroon bits now but time, money and other projects means it will have to be later, so when I arrive in Bourke this will have to be viewed as a work in progress.  The important thing is to be ready for Bourke and actually get there!!!

That's looking really flash Paul. You're right a trip down the dirt track wouldn't have enhanced its appearance.

Yeah Duc  that's the plan

Was just about to ask the same question! The bike's looking great Paul...I'll bet you're pleased to have the motor back in.

Look forward to seeing the finished product at Coops' BBQ - and hearing how the bus purchase went too!

I think adding my bike to any comp would be cheating.
I don't think a new bike counts  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Geoff.

I don't think Xtian has any worries as I will not be painting my tank, side covers or fairing at this stage due to time and other commitments.
