Seat looks good. Suits the style of the bike you've developed there.

Doesn't look real comfy though. More the street fighter, short distance racer.

Where are the rear sets.

I think you'll find that XS1 and XS2 refers to the XS650 models and niether are particularly rare.

Mach1 refers to the Kawasaki 500 triples from the same era. Nothing could touch them in a straight line but God help you if there was a decent corner at the end of the straight. Coincidentally, I saw one in fair condition at the VJMC Rally in Nagambie last month.

And then there was this spooky coincidence:
89 bikes in the lineup and there was this bloke taking pictures of my '78 XS1100E, in particular he was taking real close ups of my Foot Boards and how they were fitted.

He looked vaguely familiar so I approached him and asked if his name was Nixon (Explaining it was my bike) to which he says "Yes it is, Fred".

Weeeeellllllll :o :o :o :o :o :o knock me over with a feather. We had been at Newcomb High School (Secondary College to you youngsters), together in the same class from '69 - '73. and to top it off what was he riding? YES a 1978 XS110E :o :o :o

Didn't win Lotto though :(

Handed out three XS1100.com.au Tag Cards on the day.

Doubt it's the scarce one - didn't know one existed. Could always run the Vin through a system or look at tell tail signs when I look up what sets a Mach 1 from the rest.

Ive just added another project bike to the barn.  An XS650 special which is going to receive slow but dramatic changes.

Again, I'd like to say thanks to everyone so far for their help on my bike. Especially for a newly registered member. Hope to meet other members and perhaps catch up and look at each others bikes since I havent seen anyone else with a xs11 on the road - in SA anyways. Although I have seen a bike wrecker with a few xs11 sitting in his yard  :(

For those interested, here is my other project. Its at a stalemate at the moment.

Saves me from sourcing parts which are already hard to find.

as for the carbs mate, there is absolutely no problem putting 78 carbs on 80 models,, or vice versa ,,

there is some issues with mix and matching internals between carbs, but not with complete assemblies

Yes I sure am. It looks like it would be a great cruiser and just a nice A to B bike. Plus it would give my back a break from arching over.
