I just gave my local bearing shops a try - always like to support local business if possible.

No luck with CBC bearings or another mob nearby who stock SKF.  Looks like it's back to the online option. Worth a try though - thanks for the suggestion Jonesy.

I thought so too, in particular the ones for my Special which are the same as early Goldwings and several Honda dirtbikes.
Just not in widespread use in the industrial world, I guess.

I took it for a common size, might ring my local SKF shop and see what they've got.

It'll be interesting to see if you get a result from either of those firms.
Some time ago, I sourced the rear diff seal (70x80x10 from memory) from Bundaberg bearing service and after finding out that they only cost $2.80 each, I got a couple, plus one more for Geoff while I was in there. Then geoff suggested I see whether I could get fork seals, so back i went and discovered they had no listings for either the 37 X 49 X 8mm, or 37x48x10mm to fit the Special \ RH's
So hope you have better luck down your end.

If you haven't already hit the buy button you could get them at your local bearing shop like SKF or CBC etc they usually carry nearly as many seals as they do bearings. just take the dimensions 37 X 49 X 8mm with you and they'll probly have one on the shelf maybe 2 even

Hi Jarrad. The ones listed in the first link state that they are the correct size for your G model Standard. If buying from that Australian seller in the second link, have him confirm that they are the same ones as in the first link as they are known to be quite oblivious to the differences between the XS models.
As far as the seal quality goes, I ran some of those pyramid seals while I had the standard forks fitted to my Special. Didn't show any signs of leakage in the 2 years I had them on the bike, so in my experience they're ok.
Can't vouch that they would last as long as the OEM's though.

Hi All,

I'm about to order some new fork seals and thought I'd check before hitting the 'pay now' button.  Are these the right ones for my 1980G?

I've seen them listed on eBay from the US and imagine I would need to specify model and measurment to make sure they don't send me seals for the US special.

Also, any feedback on the Pyramids Parts seals would be great.  Are they okay, or am I better off paying $25 each for the genuine seals vs. $12.50 plus postage for these ones?
