All the XJ900's were shaft.  Only the smaller ones were chain drive.

Welcome aboard, I had an 80 or 81 XJ 650 for about 5 years. It was like a miniature XS 11 and a 100% reliable, is your 900 shaft or chain drive?
2 X 78E's
TRX 850.
CT 110
3rd XS not bought yet
