I was going to Jonesy but then they can't be used with the boyer system so desicion needs to be made.
I would say the one downfall I can see with the Boyer system is you have no option to use a different coil. If company stops producing them  :o

Hey Brett
It looks like the Dyna coils feature in 3 of your 4 options at the start of this thread, so maybe get them first and build from there?
around $170 delivered from US (Z1 enterprises) for a pair of green 3ohm coils with 7mm leads and caps

It seems it will be cheaper posted to Australia ???? Must be a tax thing??

Hi Brett,

No you don’t need anything else.  It comes with two dual coils and 1.5m HT lead.  The price to Australia including delivery would be £181.10.

Thanks Errol,
I have had a chat with Christian, but I do hope he chimes in here. Not sure if Bryan has installed the Saches unit with his Dyna coils yet.

I am not rushing out and buying anything yet, bloody budget won't allow it. Just trying to put a plan together. I figure the bike will benifit from new coils and who knows how long that ECU unit will keep going so it does seem like a good idea.

Brett, Pretty sure Christian is running one of hose Boyer setups, but he had it fitted while O/S. Maybe have a chat to him about it.
I wouldn't be too concerned about your current setup, though. I found out from Steptoe That he'd done an exact swap like yours into his current flood victim (516) a few years ago and it hadn't missed a beat in that time.
Maybe hang off till the rally, so you can see firsthand what everyone else is running?

I got this back today
Hi Brett,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We don’t have a bolt on kit for this machine.  With adaptions our Micro Power kit for the GS Suzuki 4 cyl. electronic models with the smallest stator can be fitted..  The ball race with the vacuum advance is removed and the stator fitted in place, the stator may need a mounting ring or bracket made up. Then the old reluctor unit is adapted to take our magnetic rotor. You will need to put on some full advance marks on to strobe the ignition to.  The kit is £205.32 including delivery and VAT.  I have attached some information.

That works out to about $300 but I didn't tell them I was in Australia so will need to add a bit for postage.
Just need to clarify as this seems like the complete unit coils and leads included. Seems like a good deal.

Upgrade the ignition system

It seems I have several options so I wonder if yas could help bat it out for me.

Option 1 Dyna coils with the original ignition system. Cost under $200
Since my ECU is not a match to my motor then maybe I would be better biting the bullet and going electronic. Just in case something is still missing!

Option 2, Dyna coils with the Saches electronic ignition system pretty easy upgrade and I would think it would be a great set up. Cost all up would be around the $600

But maybe there is better value some where else?

Option 3 Dyna coils with Boyer electronic ignition KIT00090 Cost unsure yet?

Option 4  Boyer electronic ignition KIT00290 comes with Micro coils Cost unsure yet?
