Thanks Jonesy, I have the daughters birthday this weekend, I was thinking I could sneak over early Saturday morning but I figure by the time I get home it will be a tad late. At this point I will say don't hold of any other plans and if I miss out then that is my bad luck ???
I will get onto this valve clearance thing again if I can solve some of that with the shims I now have I will lift the lid on the motor again in the next day or two. Otherwise I will have to order some more shims.
Thanks again for the kind offer  8)

We all love a wreckers and I have been keen to take a ride over to Dubbo Motorcycle wreckers and have a look around for any parts I can use. Not necessarily Original parts but things like indicators headlights maybe handlebars or a seat that I could modify to suit. Although I kinda like the seat on mine that seems different to the norm already?
I thought I better call ahead to gauge how willing the owner will be to me wandering around seeing what is on offer.
the Guy I talked to (I think the owner?) Dave said he had three XS1100  8) also one of those rd 250's  :-*
He stated they are in his personal collection so i guess that means I won't see them when I get there  :( Sounds like he is quoting retail price on what they are worth  :P
Of Course I mentioned how you are all such a great bunch, I did not get around to mentioning the Rally but I will as well as take a forum invite  ;)
So yes think I will head over for a drive in the next few days, or maybe I should head over to Jonesy's and get some help to tune the bike in better first?
I mentioned the fuel usage to Dave and he suggested it could be needle and seat settings or float settings and I suddenly remembered that there is a heap of tuning on the carbies that I have not even checked yet. Might have to go back review all that stuff and see if I can get my head around it myself first  ???
If some one could point me to an explanation of setting the needle heights, I believe I know how to adjust float levels just need to make up one of Steptoes tube contraptions.
