yeah, a bit slow.
He's outgrowing his small business concept.
I don't think anyone foresaw the huge retro restoring boom we are currently experiencing in this country.

At least if you have an issue with any of his stuff then he is local.

Called Daryl that morning. He said he was about to call me to check that the metal inner bushings had not rusted on.
Top bloke, getting them was slow, could have got them on ebay from England in half the time, but sometimes you just have to support the local guy.
I've been riding Yamahas since 1976. Only other bike was a Honda CB900F 1978.
last bike ridden XS1100RH 83 1995 sold the bike to fund an O/S trip. Have a XS1100E for 12 yrs and ready to restore.

glad all is well but did you let Darrel at Moose know that he didn't stuff up?

Yay!!! Remembered that from an old post on the UK site.

I built up the rolling chassis for Sport #1 yesterday...

The project involves a frame swap as I found out the original frame was bent/cracked a few years back...

This dry assembly was needed to test the condition of the replacement frame.

1.    Clean out swing arm pivot threads (special tool made from old pivot shaft & T-Bar allen key)
2.    Remove remains of the top shock mounts from frame bosses (heat, mole-grips & WD40) .....

Thanks for the help. Went out and checked the frame, yip you guessed it the inner metal bushings where still attached. After a lot of frigging around they came off. 3lb sledge and a screw driver works wonders. Shocks are on and look amazing.

Often the inner metal sleeve of the old shocks are jammed on the fram lugs. Be sure that the extra mm is not caused by the old sleeve of the old shockie. Pretty sure all the models should be the same.

Replacement bushings and rubbers are available in a couple of sizes.
Just use a vise and a couple of 1/2 inch drive sockets to push out the old and push in the new.

Rear Shocks Confused

Okay more help required!!!!
XS1100E 1978 model, brought new shocks (Hagon) from Moose Motorcycles. They don't fit???

The bushings are too small. They fit perfect on a 1980 model but not on the 1978. From measuring the bushings they are 1mm inner dia too small. Moose said they are the correct size as per manufacturer.
Have I got an unusual frame??  Can I file down the bracket where the bushings slide over???
After waiting 8 weeks I'm a Little pissed.
