Geoff
I just fitted the 4 big red un's onto 581's barrels they do seem a tad big in section but with a bit of patience and your tongue sticking out to the left a little they will eventually work into the groove

I,ve always thought that,s where they belonged, but after considerable time trying different ways of making them fit they always came up as being to large, and always stopped the base gasket seating properly,

came up with the theory maybe the kit also fitted a water cooled engine

the locating dowels don,t have o-rings on them, the one dowel that does is the internal crankcase near the oil pump, it forms part of the oil galleries

the red o-rings that you,ll get with the kit don,t fit anything either {I,ve never been able to make them fit anyway}

hey geoff, are u refering to the 4 large o rings in the kit?
there for the bottom of the barrel for the cylinders.

Yep, I'm with the other guys, PO reused the bag.  :'(

The part number is for the valve shim tool.  Sizes of them o-rings would help.

Can you tell us what size those O rings are? That'll help immensely.

I've been to the part finder site and entered the 10 digit part number in the photo but it comes up a blank. I'm doing a top end rebuild on a bike that a PO bought most of the parts for but these 2 "O" rings I cant figure out where they are meant to go.
The bag was opened, so it may not be the proper contents? just a convenient pack for the PO to put these mystery  o rings in?
