at 80 kph mine is true,, 100 is needed to do 90, and 120 is needed to do 100,,

turn the trip meter to 0 about 40 klm down the track the rollers pick up the hundred roller, so now I've 140 klm, some distance again it will pick up again and make it 235, not really complaining, best fuel economy I've ever had ::)

am still changing oil at 5000klm, won't hurt changing a touch early,

Sounds like the self-cancelling uncancelling blinkers might be pretty widespread. I thought it was just mine.
Also, I am experienced in the syndrome of the non starting bike. Mine used to occasionally refuse to fire while cranking it - but, as soon as I released the button, it would give a huge backfire! Great stuff in suburbia at 4.30 am! Lucky the mufflers stood up to that! Turned out the PO's wiring butcher job was allowing full voltage to the starter, but starving the TCI! Hence ignition when the starter was released. One starter motor change (fruitless, still did it) and then the total harness change fixed it good and proper!

Mind you, I can say what the problem was now, in hindsight. At the time, I had a rough idea what was going on,but had no idea how to fix it. All the bodgy junctions near the coils got me suspicious, and the harness change certainly cured it, but after my education on the XS sites, I can now say exactly what was going on.

my left blinker does that on occassion,
pisses me off no end,
nothing worse than riding with a blinker flashing and not realizing.

i also had a problem with a fuse blowing, it could go months without a problem
or could blow 6 fuses in a day, that had me stumped for nearly a year,
then one day i was doing stuff to the front of the engine, i bumped a wire and heard it short,
i had previously disconnected the horn wire and wrapped it insulation tape,
the tape had started coming away
and would then occassionally short on the engine or frame.

mines got 2 little wierd things it does.
1) The speedo. The odometer runs backwards, the trip meter does nothing and the needle still works and indicates speed.
2) The Blinkers.  If I allow the blinkers to self cansel, occasionally they will randomly just start flashing again sometimes minutes later. If I self cansel they stay canselled.

Not really after ideas how to fix just thought it'd be interesting to see what little quirks our bikes have.

Another XS I had would once in a blue moon decide not to start. you could crank and crank and crank but no fire. Pull one of the spark plugs out and she'd go. switch off, put plug back in and she'd start again as though nothing was wrong.
