Due to the work I was doing on the bike with the oil warning light thingie, I had to strip off some priceless parts to get at the instruments etc.

^ Unobtanium.. Now stored safely away

^ There's more to an RH than a round headlight, Jonesey.

^ Got the RH bars off and was surprised how close my new ($6 Ebay NOS) E model bars were in size. Just a bit more rise but very close in width and angles.

^ Here's the reasoning behind the bar swap. I'd been talking to Steptoe one night and mentioned that I seemed to be feeling the cold more these days.............

^ so he kindly offered me his "Predator" fairing to stick on my bike as my commute to work is a fair bit longer than his, and with shift changes at midnight on some shifts, the ride home was quite cold at times. The bar change was nesessitated by the fact that this screen had handlebar mounts and there's nowhere on an RH bar, due to the pivoting knuckle design to fit any kind of extra brackets.

^ Took about an hour to fit the brackets and get the screen centred and that was it!

^ Much better than the near full day to get the Beemer one on there, plus without the hefty weight penalty.

^ Plus it looks much more like a Special now than with that big bulky thing on the front

^ you can tell who this is hiding from the camera by the footwear.

^ "Predator" The name has stuck alright. You can't really see it but you know its there.

First impressions on a ride are very good. Lots of protection for the hands and the screen top is a little higher than on the old BMW fairing. Slight buffeting of the helmet, though it may be the peak on my lid catching the airstream. Legs are left exposed but you can always tuck your knees in against the cylinder head which warms you up nicely. Something that you can't do with a 24 litre tank fitted.
Thanks, Geoff! I'll be all comfy cosy now.
