one approach would be to buy some M8 X 1.0 (fine)pitch bolts cut to same length as hex plug.
drill through and tap a BSP thread and screw in a hose tail fitting to accept hose
or just brase a hose tail fitting onto the drilled bolt? a bit of mucking about but.

The RH has nice little drain nipples on the bottom of the bowls. Perfect for attaching pipe, and theres a little screw to turn the fuel on/off.

Your bike is a dinosaur mate.

Have you got one of them new fang dangle late model XS1100s with a bowl drain screw?
My 78 has only got the hex head brass plug.
Question....did you make adaptors for the hex head brass plug? or did you do something else to attach hoses to the bowls?

so if we know that there is 80mm give or take , as a fuel measurement  actually in the bowls,, by the time you fill the bowl with the float, and jet post

, would a decent screw open use most of it, or not     if you ride them hard, fuel economy isn't that great 

While I can't say for sure where the XS11 carbs are concerned, I know a decent screw always leaves me feeling pretty drained...

Hey Steptoe how ya goin', I just checked out your u tube clip and this post and it got me wondering.....if you put some more tube on those open ended vent tees at each end and kinked it over to seal 'em off. then put a pinhole in the crimped bit of hose so it still vented but now damps the reaction would you get a more accurate picture of whats happening in side the bowls when you twist the throttle?

That'll be the carb vacuum making the level fluctuate like that. It's much more pronounced in this instance as the bowls are open to the atmosphere via the tubing.
I have a rainwater tank with a level tube going up the side of it. Whenever the pressure pump kicks in, the level in the tube drops by about 8 inches due to the vacuum in the line. Pump stops and the level in the gauge tube goes back up. That'd be the same in theory.

but where in the carb system is there to send that much fuel if it's not being burnt ??

When you rev it and the levels drop is that fuel being used or is it the vaccum within the carbs lifting the levels?

If it's fuel being used then I reckon a tankful would be used up in about 15 minutes.
