Thanks Fred,

When I'm out next, I'll try my local dealer for the filter.
The really good guy there has now left, a bit of a bummer, he was so helpful.

I'll check out the UK forum better re the Tacho as well.
And thanks for your offer
It looks like the circuit can suffer from high resistance joints.

Busy cleaning up and sorting out the garage for the expected arrival  ;D
Cheers

Ken

the oil filters are readily available from any yamaha dealer for $9.95. My dealer actually has 5 on the shelf. They fitted a few later models as well so they are still much in demand.

As for your Tacho, I don't know the state the bike is in but I'd start by disconnecting all the wires and giving all the unions and in particular the earths a good cleanup. Tachos in good used condition are relatively cheap and I'm sure I've still got a couple bagged and tagged on the shelf.

Let me know by PM if you think you need one. I'll give you a fair price plus postage from Vic.

Hi,
When I took the XS out on a test ride, I noticed that the tacho was swinging wildly a bit, like it wasn't dampened. Then I was looking at the service manual and see that it's electronic ??  I just thought that the cable was buggered.

Any suggestions ???

I'm also compiling a list of shopping items to service the bike after I pick it up. The only Item I'll most likely have to wait for is an oil filter. Just imagine when I walk into the local dealer LOL LOL

Most likely buy a few from the USA. Or is there a aftermarket one thats ok, say for a car at Autobarn ??

Cant wait  yippee
Cheers
