Still trying to figure the immobiliser out, but I got someone on the .com site to translate the wiring diagram for me. He's posted it on his website if anyone's interested.  http://www.ringler.us/family/resources/XJR1300_Wiring_Diagram_Japanese_translated.pdf

The brakes are taking some getting used to, but i rode the 11 today and just about ploughed up the ass of a car. Didnt realise just how bad they are. Might have to upgrade to braided lines to improve them.

Hi Brian, did you get your immobiliser sorted out? They're a very nice bike to ride.
One of my old mates bought one and had no problems with it other than:
1/ Being so afraid to gas it off the line for fear of looping it that my old 11 would do him till 4th gear.

2/ fitted a gearsack rack to the back and lugged a big swag out on all our overnighters resulting in the rear subframe breaking under the seat. Apparently they're pretty fragile in that area as it wasn't the first, according to the Yamaha dealer in Brissie, so just keep that in mind if you're planning loading it up for a trip.

I can vouch for your sentiments about the brakes on your Special. I just refitted the original gear onto my SF and took it for a run. They're bloody woeful, to say the least. You take care if swapping from bike to bike as those XJR things will punish you if you go grabbing a fistful of lever like you do on the Special

Take it to an auto electrician thats worth a pinch of salt.....the wires are all colour coded to a specification here and in japan.......should be able to sort it for you without a diagram......

Anyone read Japanese??? The immobiliser on the new wheels is playing up and I'm going to take it out. Problem is it's factory hard wired in and, being an import, the bloody wiring diagram is in Japanese. Tried comparing it to a local market model but there's too many differences to try and match things up. Asked the dealer but he doesnt want to know. Great bike but maybe I should've bought a local.

BABY Cousin??? I think we need a 'Tounge in Check' smiley... I should've had one of these years ago.  ;D Having brakes that work is a new experience, almost bit the bars today under hard breaking when I had a bus pull out in front of me at 120km/h  :o >:(  Got in front of him and gave the driver the finger and he looks at me with a WTF expression on his face  ???  ::)

Went shopping for a new tyre for the 11, came home with two, and a couple hundred extra cc's

Actually seen it on Tradme on Saturday and decided I had to have it.
