I wasnt sure whether the rails were grab rails as they didnt look that strong or just decoration, but yes thats what I'm after.  On trawling through ebay it looks like what Bulldog Wreckers sold me was from a 79 XS1100 SF not an RH.

Gotcha! I thought he meant on the seat itself.

the rh had chrome rails on the side, apparently they were
there to assist in lifting the bike for the centre stand,
they need to be removed if you fit a rear rack.

not the best of pics but the only 1 i have,
with them fitted

Please define "Chrome rail from the back of the seat"

His website seems to be down, but this guy does very high quality badge replicas. Bit expensive though.

Brought Carl's RH with the spares for the 78E a while ago.  Had a semi retired mechanic go through it over the last couple of weeks.  Trailered it there and rode it home.  Had the biggest smile on my face on the short trip home.  Going from a silky smooth 94 ST1100 to the RH, not having ridden an XS for 14 years was absolutely brilliant.  The home made exhaust sounds great and it just purrs.  Got plenty of get up and go.  Unfortunately to get it on the road (Special Interest Plates) I'm still chasing rear taillight/indicator assembly and front indicator brackets (from fork to indicator).  Negotiating with Bulldog Wreckers to take back the crap he sold me.  To have her original I still need the "1.1" side cover emblems, reflectors and chrome rail on the rear part of the seat.  If any of you guys know where I can source these or in your own searches come across these I would be grateful.  Would love to get her on the road.
Thanks
Carsten
