Cheers Makzy - been promising myself gauges or columns (or maybe even make a manometer) for a while so I may need to get a bit more serious about it now :) - regards Kev

It’ll need a proper tuneup Kev, search the topics on here and you’ll find out what to do, STEPTOE has some videos also, you really need a set of vacuum gauges tho, Cheers.

Hi all - I have got my bike started again (Yippee) and although not running great does at least  run on all 4 cylinders now - I can start it with the choke fully on and back it halfway off after a minute or two - but whatever I do - as soon as I touch the twistgrip and open the throttle (even the slightest amount) the engine dies - please bear in mind this is only the second time I've had it running recently - I haven't changed anything settings wise nor exhaust or air cleaner - it's all as it was - I've had the carbs off and cleaned everything in sight - changed the old needle and seat valves and the diaphragms but nothing else - I'll have another look at it this weekend - fingers crossed - regards Kev

Sorry haven't been on for a while - what with Covid  - work closing its doors for a while and then getting back to work with the restrictions and other changes going on with me personally - I have been doing a few little bits to my bike and did have it running but it was running so rough (mainly on 1 & 2 with the occasional chime in from 3 & 4) that I've taken the carbs off and am cleaning them and replacing a few of the service parts as and when I can afford to - anyhow - hope all are keeping well/safe - regards Kev

Got the decals reproduced in the UK (ATIK Graphics) - the guy was really helpful and a biker too - he has done a superb job and I would highly recommend his work

Dragged the bike outside (we're having some beautiful (riding) weather for lockdown :( but I'm sure it's better to look out at sunshine :) rather than grey clouds and rain.

Still to match front and back wheels (Black + Polished spokes and rims - Painting the seat trims at the moment which will leave the swinging arm that needs attention. regards to all - Kev

Per , my last post - It's not blatantly clear where it (wiring loom) all goes in the Yamaha diagrams - but by a process of elimination I've found that - when I stripped the bike in the late 1980s and had the frame completely stove enamelled I had put the loom back nearly right  ::) so now I find that the 'extra wiring' that doesn't fit inside the headlight shell is supposed to route up the frame toward the headstock and down right under the bottom of the steering stem (which I'm sure you are all aware of) then back under and into the headlight shell. So - I am now confident that with the correctly rearranged loom there is a chance I might get the headlamp and shell mated once more - watch this space !!!  - regards Kev

You will note (at least) two things - one - the downpipes and tailpipe dont meet (gap of about 3") and two - the headlamp is craftily 'out of shot' still haven't got the wiring back in yet - BUT did have a major brainstorm and looked in the back of my Yamaha manual - and you guessed it - there's a complete nose to tail wiring guide !!!!!!!   - regards Kev
