FUEL
OK I did a rough calc. of my fuel usage with the new diff and as I did not have a speedo for a lot of the trip, still adding up the dockets I have, works out to about 430 to 440kms/tank and that was mostly at fast pace.
So Jeff pretty close
Will try and work it out around town riding soon

Your making me jealous Christian, living the life of a retired gentleman galavanting around the country side with no time constraints, Kym's shed would be worth checking out too i reckon. Good onya. After riding the martini back from gulgong with the long legged final drive it would be a constant effort go keep the speed legal. So for my license sake i wont be doing the conversion but i can see the benifits.

Thx...how soon will you get jiggy with the fuel estimates and total kms per tank ?
That will be the decider ...it will turn Lou purple seeing us Elite Standard owners getting even more riding time between fuel stops.
The mod is definitely great 100k/h drops to around <3500rpm fuel roughly about 5.5 ltr/100km still need to do a proper calculation, getting the dockets together after I mow the grass

Hey Xtian ...i have a question if i may...looking around at the rear drive units available ...there are models that had a 16in rear wheel as well as the 17 in . Either there was no change in these units and one sat on different rpm than the other...or there were 2 different models available. Some part numbers as stamped on the unit and their ratio would be helpful.
Fitting one off a xs850 16 in rear wheel would give even lower cruising revs than one that had the 17 in ......if.....they were made different to each other to accomodate the change in rear wheel size.

The diff's are the same for either wheel, I have an 850 on mine.
They are "newer" and the one I got had the price I could afford.....sort of, 750 or 850 will suit which ever one you get.
Just check the pictures to make sure it's ok.
DON'T do the mod like on the Yank site call me anyone who needs any info.

Good onya mate .......sounds like you had a great after rally bonus trip .
What cost do these diffs generally go for ?
Are they a common or rare item to find ?

After the rally I took off for Roxby Downs to visit one of my daughters and her family.
Did a stop at Cobar and Broken Hill, there was so much road kill I was not going to travel at night, one point traffic had slowed because a roo had just been hit and was still alive so the police had to be called to come and put it down.

Ride was quite good, no rain, nice weather just a tiny bit cold.
New mod with the XS850 diff was fantastic, still need to work out the fuel usage. Speedo cable broke :-(

Daughter showed me the sites of Roxby, so that took 5 minutes rest of the time was coffee and driving out of town to Andamooka an old opal mining town.
Took off from Roxby headed for Port Augusta, on the way got pinged in the middle of nowhere doing 119 in 110 zone $226 (166 fine, 60 victims of crime levy????) He could have got me for more....

Port Augusta got cable inner kit they crimped it their way but it only lasted 150ks. Them on to Kym's were he and his brother showed me around the good bits of Adelaide (thanks Kym and Gary)
Kym wanted something to do so head cover off, new gasket, hmmm while it's off he said we should check the shims.
All ok but he wanted tighter tolerances on 3 of them.

Ride back was good too but starting to get a bit cooler, had a couple of stops at night, Murrayville and Wagga Wagga, then home.
Bike of course went well all the way except for the speedo cable.
Will report on fuel consumption when I get all the receipts together, but that 750/850 diff mod is a game changer.

Forgot to mention about 4000ks
