Hi,

I've just got some new brakelines yesterday.  I had a day off work so arranged to go and see the guys at John Stamnas and take the old brake lines from the XS1100SH so they could make a copy.  The SH wasn't in the list that they had to it was probably better to copy the ones from the bike.

Worked out really well, great bunch working there and the the lines were ready for pick up after lunch. Also picked up some tips on the rebuild but have to see how that goes.  One side of the front brakes was working harder than the other, one disk has always been warmer after the ride so the workload isn't being shared equally.  I've cleaned out the calipers and the seals which were solidly held in place with dried out 40 year old gease.

I used Stammas for mine when it was OEM - he is on the Sunshine Coast as I recall

This bloke has them on the shelf, good quality, quick delivery and reasonable price + choice of colours, I went for black to keep it looking OEM

there will be a mobile guy in your arera who will make braided lines to suit your machine on the spot
expect to pay abt $100 for each line

Suitable brake lines

So, I am thinking about freshening up the XS1100E and noticed the front and rear brake lines are looking shabby and frail. Been on evilbay and the first think I’ve noticed is they seen to be selling one rear long line instead of the two shorter ones. Is this something other members to the forum do, revert to one line?
Also, is there are brand I should go with, or at least keep away from?
Or better still, is there a link I can go to?
All help appreciated.
