Oh and Scarfy, thanks. I was looking at Radchrome tonight. Seems $300 has been the going rate. Think that's what Andy paid too. I started looking for somewhere closer thinking freight would be a killer but they do seem to be the go to for this.

Similar to this Jeff, yes tyres look good.

Pipe bender would come in handy, that's not a bad price, thanks.

Yes, probably should have just said what I new for sure Jonesy String run down either side of back tire gives approx 10mm clearance to front wheel on right and 30mm on left. After some thought I assumed it was caused by the rear wheel pointing of to the left and then using Pythagoras worked out 20mm over 1.2m was 1 deg. Sounded easier to fix than 20mm haha. Would be even less if I had known wheelbase was 1.5m
So 5mm off is nothing at the moment considering I still have the front to sort and my string lines would have a couple of mm error.
Fact is the rear tyre has worn even, the bike stays very straight when I let go of the bars so probably just needs very little to get just right. But I'll keep checking. Next I want to check some verticle alignments.

I was wondering how you measured 1 degree with a piece of string  ???
Yeah the rear wheel is offset by approx 15mm, hub centerline to rim centerline
You can also get some swingarm adjustment from side to side of about 3 to 4 mm

Brett......with the 2 different size tyres front and back.........how are you using a string line to assume you have bad alignment?
Have you checked the bead is seated evenly on the rims of both tyres?

Your a Champion Eddy, think you miss understood though. Think the wheel is straight just that it is pointing 1 deg to the left.
I'll explore some more and try to work out why.

What technique did you use Jonesy. I put mine in the hydraulic press but I was never game enough to squeeze the too much for fear of squashing them out of round. Tried to spread the point load but I still wasn't keen on putting too much pressure on them. Mine were rusty anyway so Radchrome was the best alternative.

Thanks Jonesy, seems I'll need a decent pipe bender for that job unless you have another way?
Thanks Geoff, that was my next question. Seeing as I work at engineering shops I had a bit more of a Google search and seems most use a set of forks and brute strength to straighten them up. Think I've got enough info to give that a good go too.
Now I just need to work out how to straighten the rear wheel. Ran some string lines past the wheels last night and seems I'm out somewhere. Rear wheel seems to be pointing to the left by about 1deg might get that in the swing arm when I check it but don't think that's it?
Watched the Cush drive video Geoff, just after I got back, thanks.

Brett, bent forks, pull the inner sliders out and give em the pool cue roll test, straighten as required. Easy.

When I did the old '76 R100S BMW up I sent the fork legs to Radchrome in Brisbane who straightened them and rechromed them. Wasn't cheap and some say I should have bought new ones but they turned out great.
