thought about going over and riding back but had just had time off for the trip to Qld and it would have cost at least twice the shipping cost to go and ride back.

Hi guys. I've had a couple of enquiries so far - to help things out for anyone who's interested I've updated the topic with a price of $5500, which I think is a pretty fair mark for a bike in this condition. Drop me an email if you have any questions - jarradedge81@gmail.com

Thanks Steptoe. My wallet would be more than happy if someone's interested in the $6k+ range!

I'm not looking for that much though. A fair offer south of $6k would do the trick.

At the time I traded in my 2004 Bandit for the XS1100. It was probably a bit generous on my side but both parties were happy and I have no regrets. The Bandit was a top bike but owning the XS has been so much more fun!

I forgot to mention...I'm based in Adelaide. Genuine test rides are no problem if anyone's a local.

coming out of the Pitman stables stand on your 6, 6.5, might be a while before you get a bite, but its worth more than what I ,ve got to play with

Edgey's bike - SOLD!
Hi guys,

It's been a LONG time between visits to this forum for me. There's been lots happening on the home front over the past 6-12 months, but that's a different story altogether!

So...I'm not in a rush, but am thinking about selling my much-loved 1980 XS1100G. From what I understand there aren't many like mine around the place and I wanted to check for interest through the forum first.

A bit of info...
  • I've had the bike for around 5 years. It was previously one of Mal's bikes and was in the Yamaha Pitmans showroom with $6,500ono on the tag.
  • Only Mal and I have worked on the bike. (I don't know much but have been an eager learner and everything's been done under Mal's expert supervision...thanks Mal, I've learnt plenty!)
  • As you'll see from the pictures this bike is in beautiful original condition - including the original exhaust pipes
  • Since I've had it, in addition to general servicing I have recovered the seat, changed fork seals, replaced the ignition coils, installed a new battery (late 2015) added new tyres and completely rebuilt the carbies
  • The bike rides beautifully. It burns a little oil and Mal has recommended doing the the valve stem seals at some stage but I haven't made it there yet - time and money!

Why am I (considering) selling?
I've been tossing this up for ages. I have two bikes, two kids with me and recently separated from my wife, so struggle to ride one bike let alone two. But...every time I take the XS out it makes me grin and I can't bare the thought of parting with it. My GSX1400 is brilliant but the XS turns heads everywhere it goes and there's nothing quite like it. But I don't need to tell you guys what you already know!

It deserves to be ridden regularly though and I know that I don't have the time or expertise to do the occasional tinkering needed to care for a 35 year-old bike. Like I said, I'm not in a rush or desparate for cash so it's more about seeing if there's a 'good home' out there for my bike. If not, I'll hang onto it happily.

How much?
You guys know these bikes, see the others out there on eBay and know what they're worth. I think this one is a pretty fine specimen and therefore worth a fair price. If you or someone you know is genuinely interested, then drop me a private message or email at jarradedge81@gmail.com and we can have a talk and go from there. No time-wasters or people looking to make a silly offer though please...that's why I'm only putting the word out on the forum for now.

Now for the eye candy...
