Thank you so much guys! As you have gathered these bikes have been part of my life for a looong, loooong time. Remembering dragging the bike as a 17 year old in the late '70s for my dad as I only weighed around 50kg at the time (no-one could catch me!), using it to work in the '80s when it was my only transport as a apprentice, re-discovering the joys of them in the late '90s, through to today where they fit so well into my less hurried riding style.  ;)

Christian, thank you for the parcel, I can't wait!

For those who don't already know Eric let me explain something.

He built the best looking XS1100 Standard from a shed full of bits. The bike looks absolutely magnificent an the story behind the bike is heartwarming to say the least.

Here is the build thread ...

Hi there all. ;D

I have snuck onto your forum after 'hearing' about it on the UK site. Hi Brian and melbxs! Like you guys I also love these old bikes, and are currently the proud owner of 4, apart from other makes and models. I am from the beautiful coastal area of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

I first got exposed to the 'Yammie' when my dad bought one new, the second one in our town, back in 1978. It was a American 2H7 'E' model which is still have to this date. It undergone a MAJOR rebuilt in 2008 and I am proud to say, is featured on that excellent desktop melbxs compiled. Apart from that one I have another 100% original American 2H7 'E' model (Macho Maroon), in pristine condition. And just the other day I purchased a very nice 1980 'G' model 3X1, which is now undergoing a complete service. And lastly I have another 'G' or 'H' 3X1 rat bike.

I know, I know.........photos! Now there's the problem. Computers and me!..I can type, but battle my arse off with the rest. If it hasn't been for guys like Miti and Brian on the UK site. :-[
