Thanks for your reply. I was thinking about getting some of these deep crown/ domed nuts. Perhaps they would avoid was you suggested.

Make sure the studs don't bottom or top out on the dome before the nut applies crush to the exhaust gaskets. they might feel tight but not because they've clamped up the header pipe. Run dome nut onto an M8 bolt to see how deep it can go then compare to exhaust stud length. Might have to throw in some extra washers if studs are too long.

Crown nuts? do you mean dome nuts like on the back shocks?

I too have lost patience with the allen key type - these are what I'm using these days
Easy to get a spanner onto them - cheap too

Crown Exhaust Nuts

Has any members got these fitted to there bike instead of the Allen type nuts?

I was thinking of fitting these because they look better than the Allen type.

Any tips or suggestions would be gratefully received.
